Top gainers and losers on August 21: Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs, Bajaj Finserv shares rise 1.03%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks rose for sixth straight session on Thursday, August 21, led by gains in ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Finserv. The SENSEX rose as much as 373 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 25,154. However, due to heightened volatility in the last hour of trade owing to weekly expiry of NIFTY50 futures and option contracts, the markets came off intraday highs. The SENSEX ended 143 points higher at 82,000.71 and NIFTY50 index closed 33 points higher at 25,083.75.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Cipla was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 3.09% to close at ₹1,593.90. Dr Reddy's Labs (2.61%), Bajaj Finserv (1.03%), ICICI Bank (0.99%), Hindalco (0.88%) and Bajaj Finance (0.84%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, Tata Consumer Products was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 1.57% to close at ₹1,088.

Bajaj Auto (-1.56%), Eternal (-1.55%), Power Grid (-1.51%) and IndusInd Bank (-1.36%) were also among the laggards.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.38% or 222 points to close at 57,709. As many as 63 shares ended lower while 36 ended higher.

Ola Electric was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 8.38% to close at 48.75 after VAHAN data showed Ola Electric had recorded 9,522 registrations as compared to 10,248 for Arther Energy as of August 20.

Tata Communications (-3.28%), Vodafone Idea (-3.24%) and Suzlon (-2.72%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Mankind Pharma was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 3.77% to close at ₹2,601. Aditya Birla Capital (2.61%), L&T Finance (2.39%), Waaree Energies (2.33%) and PI Industries (2.06%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended on a flat note at 17,966. As many as 52 shares ended lower while 47 ended higher.

Angel One was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock dropped 6.42% following SEBI's reported plan to increase the tenure and maturity of equity derivatives contracts.

MCX (-3.6%), HFCL (-3.29%), Aarti Industries (-3.05%) and Poonawalla Fincorp (-2.55%) were also among the losers.

On the contrary, IDBI Bank rose 8.87% to close at ₹98.16 after Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Arunish Chawla said that qualified interested parties have nearly completed due diligence for the bank's divestment, CNBC TV18 reported.

Tejas Network (6.79%), Reliance Power (4.99%), PG Electroplast (4.36%) and International Gemmological Institute (4.06%) were also among the gainers.
