Top gainers and losers on August 12: Bajaj Finance, Trent, Hindustan Unilever fall over 1.37%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks gave up early gains to end lower on Tuesday, August 12, dragged down by losses in heavyweights such as ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Eternal and Kotak Mahindra Bank. The SENSEX fell as much as 833 points from day's highest level and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,465.65 after hitting an intraday high of 24,702.60.

NIFTY50 gainers and losers

Bajaj Finance was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.83% to close at ₹853. Trent (-1.39%), Hindustan Unilever (-1.37%), Nestle India (-1.36%) and Eternal (-1.33%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 2.03% to close at ₹1,511. Maruti Suzuki (1.98%), Hero MotoCorp (1.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.56%) and NTPC (1.19%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.27% or 154 points to close at 56,325. As many as 57 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended lower.

Astral was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 8.37% to close at ₹1,266 after the PVC pipes and plastic products maker posted a 32.5% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its consolidated net profit at ₹81 crore in the quarter ended June 2025 (Q1 FY26). In the corresponding period last year, the firm had clocked a profit of ₹120 crore.

RVNL fell 5.65% to close at ₹323 after its net profit declined 40% to ₹134 crore in June quarter from ₹224 crore in the same period last year.

Supreme Industries (-3.09%), Muthoot Finance (-2.81%) and Kalyan Jewellers (-2.70%) were also among the laggards.

On the flipside, Alkem Labs rose 6.62% to close at ₹5,165 after it reported 21% rise in net profit for the June quarter at ₹666.57 crore. In the year-ago quarter, the profit was ₹549.57 crore.

SJVN (5.54%), Biocon (3.49%), Adani Total Gas (2.71%) and Petronet LNG (2.47%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended 0.04% higher at 17,498. As many as 60 shares ended lower in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.

Sonata Software was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 12.81% to close at ₹372 on the back of heavier than usual trading volumes.

Himadri Specialty Chemicals (5.27%) PCBL (5.04%), Credit Access Grameen (3.45%) and Titagarh Rail Systems (3.26%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Action Construction Equipment was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 6.40% to close at ₹944. Bata India (-4.21%), Piramal Enterprises (-3.29%), Redington India (-3.17%) and Neuland Labs (-2.62%) were among the losers.
