SUMMARY

Sun Pharma was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock dropped 4.54% to close at ₹1,629 a day after it reported a 19.64% year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. The net profit stood at ₹2,278.6 crore, compared to ₹2,835.6 crore in the same period last year.

The Indian equity benchmarks fell for second straight session on Friday, August 1, as investor sentiment remained subdued amid higher trade tariffs on Indian goods exported to US. The SENSEX fell as much as 690 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,535.05 dragged down by losses in Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro and HDFC Bank. The SENSEX ended 559 points to close at 80,626.54 and NIFTY50 index declined 203 points to close at 24,565.35.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Sun Pharma was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock dropped 4.54% to close at ₹1,629 a day after it reported a 19.64% year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. The net profit stood at ₹2,278.6 crore, compared to ₹2,835.6 crore in the same period last year.

The company reported a net profit of ₹2,835.6 crore for the April-June quarter of last year.

Dr Reddy's Labs (-3.85%), Adani Enterprises (-3.67%), Cipla (-3.19%) and Tata Steel (-3.13%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Eicher Motors among was top gainers in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 2.21% to close at ₹5,518 a day after it reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,205 crore in the first quarter of current financial year (Q1FY26) marking an upside of 9% from ₹1,101 crore in the same period last year.

Eicher Motors' revenue from operations advanced 15% in June quarter to ₹5,042 crore from ₹4,393 crore in the year-ago period. Trent (3.21%), Asian Paints (1.58%), Hindustan Unilever (1.30%) and Nestle India (1.20%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 1.33% or 763 points to close at 56,637. As many as 86 shares in the index ended lower.

UPL was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 6.22% to close at ₹660. Aurobindo Pharma (-5.17%), Indus Towers (-4.88%), Page Industries (-3.98%) and Vodafone Idea (-3.91%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Suzlon, Waaree Energies, Marico, Vishal Mega Mart and ACC were among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 1.66% or 299 points to close at 17,668. As many as 78 shares in the index ended lower while 22 closed higher.

PNB Housing Finance was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 17% to close at ₹811 as the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Girish Kousgi resigned.

The housing finance firm said that Kousgi will step down from his role effective October 28, 2025, to pursue career aspirations outside the organisation.

IIFL, Sonata Software, IGIL and Swan Energy also fell between 5-11%.

On the contrary, Radico Khaitam jumped 5.14% to close at ₹2,875 after it reported a consolidated net profit of ₹131 crore in the first quarter of current financial year, marking an upside of 75% from ₹75 crore in the same period last year.

Its revenue from operations advanced 25% in April-June period to ₹5,314 crore from ₹4,266 crore in the year-ago period.

The Delhi-based company reported strong operational performance as its EBITDA also known as operating profit advanced 58% to ₹232 crore from ₹147 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Zen Technologies (4.84%), Kaynes Technology (3.09%), HBL Engineering (2.21%) and Birlasoft (2.09%) were also among the laggards.
