Top gainers and losers, June 5: Wipro, Hindalco fall 3%, Adani Enterprises rises over 2%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the deep red on Friday, June 5, as the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) unanimously decided to keep the interest rate unchanged at 5.25% while retaining a ‘neutral’ stance.

On Thursday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold stocks worth ₹4,447.06 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹4,360.14 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.

On June 5, the 30-share BSE SENSEX declined by 116.66 points or 0.16% to settle at 74,243.34. The 50-share NIFTY fell by 49.85 points or 0.21% to end at 23,366.70.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The top losers in the index included Wipro (-3.07%), which tumbled as the stock was trading ex-date for its ₹15,000 crore share buyback program. It must be noted that Thursday, June 4, was the last day for market participants to buy Wipro shares to be eligible for the share buyback program.

It was followed by Hindalco Industries (-2.99%), Trent (-2.38%), Tata Consultancy Services (-2.01%), and Coal India (-1.99%), which were among the other top gainers.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises (2.36%), Hindustan Unilever (2.01%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.96%), Bajaj Finance (1.73%) and Axis Bank (1.60%) were the top gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY midcap gauge, the Midcap 100, ended 0.35% or 211.75 points lower at 60,754.90 on June 5.

National Aluminium Company (-4.44%), BSE (-3.78%), MCX (-3.58%), Steel Authority of India (-3.51%) and Cochin Shipyard (-2.67%) were among the top laggards.

On the flipside, the top winners included Billionbrains Garage Ventures (3.20%), Kalyan Jewellers India (2.86%), Yes Bank (2.72%), Adani Total Gas (2.36%) and Fortis Healthcare (2.17%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 closed at 18,110.30, down by 10.75 points or 0.06%.

The top losers were Wockhardt (-7.17%), Netweb Technologies India (-5.35%), Anant Raj (-3.79%), Physicswallah (-3.71%) and Redington (-3.13%).

On the contrary, Himadri Speciality Chemical (7.17%), Jyoti CNC Automation (6.25%), Ather Energy (5.15%), Reliance Power (4.82%) and Ola Electric Mobility (3.88%) were among the top gainers.
