The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, were trading in positive territory in afternoon deals on Friday, July 31, amid buying in media and auto stocks.
The markets had opened flat before rising during the noon session. The SENSEX surged as much as 0.5% to hit an intraday high of 78,253.27, while the NIFTY50 gained as much as 0.44% to touch the session’s peak of 24,424.80.
At 1:01 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX advanced by 298.46 points, or 0.38%, to trade at 78,226.61. NSE’s NIFTY50 was trading at 24,413.95, reflecting a 96.80-point, or 0.40% increase.
The top gainers of the NIFTY50 index included Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports and Sun Pharmaceuticals.
On the flipside, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Eternal, Infosys, Max Healthcare Institute, ITC and Tata Consumer Products were among the top losers.
Shares of Swiggy declined as much as 5.31% to hit an intraday low of ₹280.20 per unit in early trade on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, July 31, as the company reported its earnings for the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27).
Swiggy saw its consolidated net loss narrow to ₹791 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with a net loss of ₹1,197 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year, according to a regulatory filing dated July 30.
Its revenue from operations surged 37.31% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹6,812 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹4,961 crore in the April-June quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26).
The stock of Astra Microwave Products rallied 13.5% to hit a record high level of ₹1,960 per equity share on July 13, after the company bagged an order from Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL).
Worth ₹2205.23 crore, the order includes the procurement of 122 Active Antenna Array Units (AAAU) and 121 interface frames for the Uttam Radar.
The order is expected to be completed within five years.
“This is to inform you that our company, Astra Microwave Products Limited, has received an order for procurement of 122 (One Hundred and Twenty-Two) Nos. of AAAU and 121 (One Hundred and Twenty-One) Interface Frames for Uttam Radar for a total consideration of Rs. 2205.23 Crores inclusive of all applicable taxes and GST,” the company said in a regulatory filing.
Tata Steel shares were trading higher on Friday, July 31, as investors focused on the company’s healthy April to June quarter financial performance for the year 2026-27, while analysts chart key focus areas in the upcoming period.
After market hours on July 30, Tata Steel’s board of directors announced that the company has recorded an 11.5% growth in its consolidated net profit (attributable to owners) to ₹2,318.35 crore in the April-to-June quarter of FY27, compared to ₹2,077.68 crore in the same period a year earlier.
The consolidated revenue from core operations advanced 14.3% to ₹60,794.29 crore in the June quarter, from ₹53,178.12 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
While the company’s revenues witnessed a rise in Q1 earnings, the company’s raw material costs also increased 12% to ₹20,185.68 crore in the period under review, from ₹18,028.08 crore in the same quarter a year earlier.
The stock of Hyundai Motor India skyrocketed 9.4% to hit an intraday high of ₹2,208 per equity share on the NSE after the automobile company's management gave health guidance for the financial year 2026-27.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd reported a 33.89% decline in standalone profit after tax to ₹883 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, hit by production constraints due to a fire incident at one of its suppliers and a decline in exports due to the West Asia war. The company had posted a standalone net profit of ₹1,335.75 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
However, Tarun Garg, the company's Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, assured that Hyundai Motor India is committed to "achieve its stated guidance of 8-10% (YoY) volume growth for both domestic and exports as well as 11-14% EBITDA margin in FY27."
Shares of Bajaj Finance surged as much as 7.9% to hit a record high of ₹1,136.80 apiece on the NSE, after its June quarter earnings surpassed analyst estimates. Bajaj Finance reported a net profit (attributable to the owners of the company) of ₹5,986 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year, marking an increase of 27% from ₹4,700 crore in the same period last year.
Its net interest income rose 23% to ₹12,571 crore in the April-June period from ₹10,228 crore a year earlier.
The number of new loans booked during the quarter rose 20% to 16.13 million compared with 13.49 million in the same period last year.
Data Patterns stock tumbled as much as 8.34% to reach an intraday low of ₹4,090 per equity share on Friday morning after the company posted subdued earnings for the quarter ended June 2027.
The company’s growth during the quarter remained largely subdued across the board. Its revenue for the quarter jumped 16.9% YoY to ₹116 crore, compared to ₹99 crore in the same period last year.
However, on a sequential basis, the revenue plunged 66% QoQ from ₹344.9 crore. The sharp fall in revenue can be largely attributed to slower execution of orders.
As of Q1 FY27, the company’s total order book stood at ₹927 crore as compared to ₹926.5 crore at the end of FY26. The total order inflow for the quarter stood at ₹117 crore, and the order execution stood at ₹116 crore as compared to ₹344 crore in the previous quarter.

Thermax stock declined 16% to touch an intraday low of ₹3,566.50 apiece on Friday, July 31, following the company’s disappointing earnings for the June quarter.
The heavy electrical equipment-making company posted an 83% decline in its consolidated net profit at ₹25 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year (Q1 FY27) as compared to ₹152 crore logged during the same period last year.
The firm’s revenue from operations, however, increased 7% to ₹2,303 crore in the April-June quarter as against ₹2,158 crore seen in the year-ago period.
The operating profit, also known as earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA), slipped 70% to ₹69 crore as compared to ₹225 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. Its EBITDA margin also contracted to 2.97% in the reporting quarter from 10.43% in Q1 FY26.
Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) shares extended their gains, surging more than 4% during the trading session on Friday, July 31, as investors continued to focus on the automaker’s strong revenue growth fuelling the overall April to June quarter results for the financial year 2026-27.
On July 30, Mahindra and Mahindra’s (M&M) board of directors announced that the company recorded a 34% growth in its consolidated net profits to ₹5,454.54 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, in comparison to ₹4,083.32 crore in the same period a year earlier.
The automaker’s revenue from core operations advanced around 27% to ₹57,533.44 crore in the June quarter, from ₹45,435.88 crore in the same quarter of the previous year, as per the exchange filing.
