Stocks to watch: At 7:53 AM, the GIFT NIFTY futures were trading 2.50 points, or 0.01% lower at 25,431 levels, indicating a negative start to trading on Friday, October 4.

On the global front, Asian stocks retreated on Friday while oil prices headed for their sharpest weekly gain in more than a year, as escalating tensions in the Middle East kept markets on edge ahead of a U.S. jobs report later in the day.

US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the US is discussing strikes on Iran's oil facilities as retaliation for Tehran's missile attack on Israel, while Israel's military hit Beirut with new air strikes in its battle against Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.

On Thursday, Brent crude futures settled up $3.72, or 5.03%, at $77.62 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures settled up $3.61, or 5.15%, to $73.71.

Avenue Supermarts: The DMart operator shared its Q2 business update on Thursday, October 4. The company reported revenue at ₹14,050 crore, up 14% from the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The number of stores stood at 377 during the period under preview. 
Bank of Baroda: State-owned Bank of Baroda (BoB) on Thursday said it proposes to sell its Oman operation to Bank Dhofar as part of rationalisation of foreign operations. The bank has accorded approval for accepting the offer for acquisition of the banking business of Bank's Oman territory operations by Bank Dhofar on a going concern basis, BoB said in a regulatory filing.

Meanwhile, the company also released its provisional business update for the quarter ended September 30, 2024. It said its global business grew by 10.23% YoY to ₹25.06 trillion. Global advances of the bank grew by 11.60% YoY to ₹11.43 trillion, while global deposits of the bank grew by 9.11% YoY to ₹13.63 trillion as during the quarter.

BSE: The stock exchange said its weekly index derivatives contracts on SENSEX 50 will be discontinued from November 14, and weekly index derivatives contracts on BANKEX will be discontinued from November 18. The decision comes following SEBI’s recent guidelines on strengthening the equity index derivatives framework to protect investors and ensure market stability.

BSE will retain SENSEX, its index of 30 bluechip stocks, and derivative weekly contracts.

Bajaj Finance: In its Q2 business update, Bajaj Finance said that its assets under management (AUM) grew by 29% to approximately ₹373,900 crore as of September 30, 2024, as compared to ₹290,264 crore as of September 30, 2023. AUM in Q2 FY25 grew by approximately ₹19,700 crore.

New loans booked grew by 14% to 9.69 million in Q2 FY25 as compared to 8.53 million in Q2 FY24.

Diffusion Engineers: Shares of the company are set to debut on bourses today. The company's IPO saw an overwhelming response from the investors, as it got subscribed over 114 times by the last of the bids. The share sale ran between September 26 and September 30. 
CESC: The company on Thursday said in its exchange filing that Purvah Green Power Private Limited (PGPPL), a subsidiary of CESC Limited, has entered into a binding term sheet with Bhojraj Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd (BREPT) and its shareholders and contractor, for inter alia securing connectivity approval and land acquisition, including relevant permits and approvals for the 300 MW wind project and the 150 MW solar project, and the acquisition of the entire shareholding of BREPT from its shareholders on a fully diluted basis. 

The total cash consideration for this acquisition could reach up to ₹108.56 crore.

Ola Electric: The electric two-wheeler maker unveiled its Biggest Ola Season Sale, also called BOSS, offering attractive deals and exclusive benefits. The sale begins today (October 3). One of the key offers includes the S1 scooter priced as low as ₹49,999.
M&M Finance: In its provisional Q2 update, the company said, "In Q2 FY25, we estimate the overall disbursement at approximately ₹13,160 crore, a YoY decline of 1% over the previous year, and for H1 FY25 disbursement at approximately ₹25,900 crore, a growth of 2% YoY."

Business assets at approximately ₹1,12,600 crore grew by nearly 20% over September 2023, it added.

Shilpa Medicare: The company said in its exchange filing that Shilpa Medicare’s 100% subsidiary, Shilpa Pharma Lifesciences, received a certificate of suitability (CEP) from EDQM (European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & Healthcare) for the API, desmopressin.

Desmopressin is a synthetic peptide manufactured by Shilpa Pharma Lifesciences through solid-phase synthesis. Desmopressin helps to reduce frequent urination and excessive thirst. This is used to treat central diabetes insipidus and bedwetting.
