As of 1:15 pm, the NIFTY50 index jumped over 250 points, or 1.1%, to 23,163. The SENSEX also gained 840 points, or 1.11%, to 76,288. As the broader markets continued their gaining spree, as many as 35 stocks hit their 52-week highs on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE).

India’s volatility index, or India VIX, dropped 2.9% to 12.90 on Thursday. All the sectoral indices were trading in the green, with the NIFTY IT and NIFTY Oil & Gas indices being the top gainers, rising over 1.5% each.
