Markets are trading in red for the second consecutive day amid a decline in the Indian rupee and consistent sell-off by the foreign institutional investors (FIIs). The Indian rupee depreciated 20 paise to 89.63 against the US dollar, dragged by foreign fund outflows.

Broader market indices like NIFTY Midcap100 (-0.02%) and NIFTY Smallcap100 (+0.20%) are trading mixed. Despite a fall in the overall market, over 68 stocks hit their 52-week high on the NSE today, while 58 stocks hit their 52-week low.

The volatility index, or India VIX, is down 0.8% to 9.11. Among the key sectoral indices, NIFTY Metal (+0.6%), NIFTY Chemicals (+0.2%) and NIFTY FMCG (+0.1%) were the top gainers, while NIFTY IT (-1.0%) and NIFTY Auto (-0.5%) were the top losers.
