Sona BLW Precision shares rise on report of supplying EV parts to China's BYD

Shares of Gurugram-based auto parts maker Sona BLW Precision Forgings rose as much as 8.52% to hit an intraday high of ₹494 on the BSE after a report suggested that the company is in advanced talks to supply electric vehicle components to Chinese EV giant BYD.

Sona BLW is in talks with BYD for supplying EV components for a last few months and both the companies are in advanced stage, CNBC TV18 reported citing sources aware of the development.

As per the report, to cater to BYD's demands Sona BLW could even set up a local manufacturing unit in China for a long term roadmap. Sona BLW Precision counts Tesla as its major client in the EV business and around 35% of its revenue comes from the EV business.

Meanwhile, BSE has sought clarification from the company with regards to the news development for which the reply was awaited.

Sona BLW Precision Forgings shares were witnessing heavier than usual trading volumes as 2.47 crore shares changed hands on the National Stock Exchange compared with an average trading volume of 32 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 45.25 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 1.41 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

In quarter ended March 2025, Sona BLW reported net profit of ₹164 crore, marking an increase of 11% from ₹148 crore in the same quarter last year.

Its revenue from operations advanced declined 2% to ₹865 crore as against ₹884 crore in the year-ago period.

During the last quarter, Sona Comstar has received an order from an existing customer, a North American OEM of EVs, to supply rotor-embedded differential sub-assembly and epicyclic geartrain for their new electric passenger vehicle. This programme added ₹1,520 crore to its order book.

As of 1:41 pm, Sona Comstar shares traded 6% higher at ₹482, outperforming the BSE200 index which was trading on a flat note.
