The top gainers on the NIFTY50 index were HUL, ITC, HDFC Bank, HDFC Life, and Shriram Finance. The top losers were Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Power Grid, and HCL Tech.
Most sectors were trading with gains in the early trade. Realty stocks were the top gainers, followed by FMCG counters.
On the contrary, IT stocks were the biggest losers.
The BSE Realty index was trading 1.23% higher at 8,097.54 levels.
In a regulatory filing on Wednesday, NBCC said it has "signed an MoU with HUDCO for the development of a 10-acre institutional plot at Noida sector-62 as Project Management Consultant."
The BSE MidCap index was trading at 46,189.33 levels, up 0.5%, while the BSE SmallCap index was trading at 55,097.73, up 0.98%.
Asian shares were subdued on Thursday, and the dollar was on the defensive after US data showed progress in slowing inflation had stalled even as the economy remained resilient, raising doubt over the path the Federal Reserve could take next year.
US stock markets will be closed today and will remain closed early on Friday, November 29, as well, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was 0.07% lower, with Japan's Nikkei up 0.46%.
