SUMMARY
Asian shares were trading sharply lower on the back of a renewed selling pressure in technology shares after Samsung reported its quarterly earnings.

The Indian equity benchmarks edged higher on Tuesday, July 7, led by gains in index heavyweights like Infosys, HDFC Bank, Titan, state Bank of India, Eternal, Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Technologies. However, the upside was capped owing to weakness in Trent, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Bharat Electronics.
As of 9;26 am, the SENSEX was up 22 points at 78,307 and NIFTY50 index rose 4 points to 24,436.

US stocks ended higher on Monday following a rebound in AI stocks.
Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.3%, S&P 500 index advanced 0.72% and tech heavy Nasdaq gained 1.12%.
Back home, 10 of 15 major sector gauges compiled by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) were trading higher led by the NIFTY IT index's 1.2% gain. NIFTY Pharma, Healthcare, Consumer Durables and Bank indices also rose between 0.2% and 0.6%.
On the other hand, metal, oil & gas, FMCG, media, realty and oil & gas shares were facing selling pressure.
Broader markets were underperforming their larger peers as NIFTY Midcap 100 index declined 0.44% and NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 0.24%.
Titan was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 3.2% to ₹4,607 after the company said that its consumer business rose 41% in the first quarter of current financial year.
SBI Life, Infosys, Eicher Motors, Eternal, Jio Financial Services, Shriram Finance, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra also rose between 1% and 2.2%.
On the flip side, Trent was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock dropped 10% to ₹3,014 after the company reported a 19% year-on-year (YoY) increase in standalone revenue for the June quarter (Q1FY27).
Trent said standalone revenue from operations (excluding GST) stood at ₹5,666 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹4,781 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue from the sale of merchandise, excluding other operating income, also grew 19% YoY during the quarter.
Larsen & Toubro, Bharat Electronics, InterGlobe Aviation, Coal India, Tata Motors PV, Hindalco, ITC, Adani Enterprises and Kotak Mahindra Bank were also among top losers in the NIFTY50 index.
The overall market breadth was negative as 1,628 shares were declining while 1,137 were advancing on the NSE.
