SENSEX falls over 400 pts, NIFTY below 24,590 in noon deals; Britannia, Siemens Energy, LIC among buzzing stocks

Buzzing stocks, NIFTY50, SENSEX

During the trading session on August 8, the SENSEX fell as much as 0.7% to touch an intraday low of 78,430.05.

The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, continued their downward trend during the afternoon session on Friday, August 7, amid a sell-off in financial services stocks. The markets also shadowed trends in global markets ahead of the release of US jobs data.

During Friday’s trading session, the SENSEX fell as much as 0.7% to touch an intraday low of 78,430.05. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 declined as much as 0.4% to reach the session’s low of 24,529.20.

At 12:58 PM, the markets recovered from their intraday lows, with the S&P BSE SENSEX trading at 78,505.16, down by 449.60 points, or 0.57%. The NSE’s NIFTY50 stood at 24,555.35, reflecting an 80.65-point, or 0.33% drop.

Buzzing stocks on August 7: Check list

Crompton Greaves

Shares of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals declined 7% to touch an intraday low of ₹250.05 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, August 7, as the company’s earnings failed to cheer the investors despite reporting an in-line quarter.

The sharp fall in the stock can also be attributed to management’s comments on supply tightness, which impacted revenue. Analysts highlighted a sales loss of around ₹200 crore, with the largest impact seen in the fans segment.

The electrical equipment company reported a 15% increase in consolidated net profit at ₹140 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year (Q1 FY27) as against ₹122 crore in the same period last year.

The company’s revenue from operations rose 12% in the April-June period to ₹2,235 crore as compared to ₹1,998 crore on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Waaree Energies

The stock of Waaree Energies jumped as much as 2.6% to hit an intraday high of ₹2,730 per equity share on Friday, after the company informed exchanges that its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Private Limited, has incorporated a new wholly owned subsidiary, WH Clean Mobility Systems Private Limited, on August 4, 2026.

The company said it received the Certificate of Incorporation on Friday, according to a regulatory filing.

The newly incorporated entity will operate in the hydrogen business and has been set up to provide clean mobility solutions powered by hydrogen and battery technologies.

Siemens Energy

Shares of Siemens Energy rallied as much as 14.4% to hit the session’s peak of ₹3,72 on Friday, August 7, as the company said that its net profit in the April-June period jumped 68% to ₹441 crore from ₹263 crore in the same period last year.

Its revenue from operations advanced 39% to ₹2,486 crore from ₹1,785 crore in the year-ago period, bolstered by robust order backlog and execution.

Its profit from operations also improved by 430 bps year-on-year (YoY) to 21.9%, primarily driven by better operating leverage, higher export contributions, and disciplined order execution, the company said.

Vikram Solar

Vikram Solar’s stock dropped as much as 10.6% to reach its 52-week low of ₹155.38 per equity share on August 7, as investors focused on the solar panel manufacturer’s poor first-quarter performance and contracting margins of the fiscal year 2026-27, amid the 63% surge in raw material cost, which weighed down earnings.

The company reported an 85% fall in its consolidated net profits to ₹20 crore in the June quarter of FY27, compared YoY with ₹133 crore in the same period a year earlier.

Although the overall revenue from core operations advanced 38% YoY to ₹1,563 crore, from ₹1,134 crore in the same quarter a year ago, the company’s 62% rising overall expenses impacted the Q1 performance.

Britannia Industries

Britannia Industries share advanced as much as 4.7% to hit an intraday high of ₹4,660 per unit, following the company's June quarter (Q1 FY27) earnings release on Thursday post-market hours.

In its earnings release, the company said that its consolidated sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27) came in at ₹4,964 crore, up 9.5%, and net profit stood at ₹593 crore, 14.1% higher on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Life Insurance Corporation of India

The stock of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) jumped as much as 2.4% to reach the session’s peak of ₹396.85 per equity share on the NSE, after the country’s largest biggest insurer on Thursday posted a 23% rise in net profit to ₹13,492 crore in the first quarter of the ongoing financial year (Q1 FY27), helped by an increase in new business.

It had clocked a profit of ₹10,987 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

The total income of the insurer during the reporting quarter improved to ₹2,37,848 crore from ₹2,22,864 crore in the same period of the preceding fiscal year, LIC said in a regulatory filing.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering

Texmaco Rail & Engineering shares rose as much as 2% to hit an intraday high of ₹110.23 apiece on the NSE on Friday, as it executed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Škoda Digital SRO, Czech Republic, to explore the potential business opportunities in the field of railway digitalisation solutions.

The MoU is intended to facilitate discussions for a potential future collaboration, the company said in a regulatory filing.

“Execution of the Definitive Agreement is subject to mutual negotiations and approvals of the respective managements,” it stated.

Samvardhana Motherson International

Samvardhana Motherson International stock soared as much as 9% to hit a 52-week high of ₹168.95 apiece on the NSE on August 7, following its robust earnings report in the June quarter of FY27.

The auto parts manufacturer reported a 101.64% increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹1,032.05 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹511.84 crore in the April-June period a year ago.

Its revenue from operations grew 16.65% to ₹35,243.77 crore in the June quarter of FY27. It was ₹30,212 crore in the year-ago period.

On the operational level, the company's EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) stood at ₹2,950 crore, reflecting a growth of 30.44% from ₹2,262 crore in Q1 FY26. The EBITDA margin was at 8.37% vs 7.49% a year back.
