RailTel Corporation bags second order this week worth ₹165 crore; shares down 24% so far in 2026

RailTel Corporation of India shares will on investors’ radar after the company on Thursday, August 20, said it has bagged an order from Western Coalfields.

Worth ₹164.79 crore, the order involves setting up an MPLS VPN network for WCL on a rental basis for a period of 60 months.

The domestic order is expected to be completed by September 20, 2031.

This week, the Navratna public sector undertaking (PSU) firm had also secured an extension of a work order. Worth ₹166.80 crore, RailTel received a one-year extension of the work order from the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) for providing Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) through the company.

Last week, on August 13, RailTel had also bagged another order worth ₹63 crore from Deendayal Port Authority for designing, supplying, installing, testing and commissioning along with operation and maintenance of an integrated gate automation system at DPA (IGAS) for a period of five years in Kandla.

For Q1 FY27, the company's net profit remained flat at ₹66 crore year-on-year (YoY), while revenue from operations increased 20% to ₹893.2 crore from ₹743.8 crore annually.

Its EBITDA grew nearly 14% to ₹132 crore from ₹116 crore, though the EBITDA margin contracted to 14.7% from 15.6% in the corresponding quarter last year.

On Thursday, RailTel Corporation shares closed at ₹280.75 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, falling 2.26%.

From the beginning of the year, RailTel Corporation shares have tanked 24%. Over a month’s time, the stock has slipped 5%, while it has fallen 13% in the past six months.

Shares of the firm had hit a 52-week high of ₹412.90 on September 17, 2025, and a 52-week low of ₹245 on March 30, 2026.
