RVNL shares climb over 3% on securing order worth ₹161 crore from East Coast Railway; all you need to know

RVNL share price today: Shares of Navratna PSU Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) climbed as much as 3.5% to hit an intraday high of ₹231.20 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday, August 20, on bagging an order worth ₹161.02 crore from East Coast Railway.

At around 2:00 PM, the stock stood at ₹229.49 per equity share, marking a 2.68% increase. The scrip has risen nearly 1% in the past week and more than 1% over the month. However, on a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it has dropped about 37%.

While the shares hit a 52-week high of ₹400.70 apiece on December 29, 2025, they touched a year’s low of ₹220.16 per unit on July 28, 2026.

According to a regulatory filing, the government-owned company received the letter of award (LoA) for provisioning the Multi-Section Digital Axle Counter (MSDAC) to increase reliability in the Automatic Block Signaling (ABS) section from Machapur station to Khurda Road Junction station and at Raj Athgarh, Joranda Road, Sadashibapur, Dhenkanal, Hindol Road and Talcher Road stations of the Khurda Road division of the East Coast Railway.

The company is expected to execute the domestic contract worth ₹161.02 crore from the East Coast Railway within 18 months, according to a regulatory filing.

RVNL Q1 results

RVNL reported an 18% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated net profit after tax (attributable to owners) to ₹159 crore in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27), compared to ₹135 crore in the same period a year earlier.

The filing data also showed that the company’s revenue from core operations advanced 10.5% YoY to ₹4,321 crore in the June quarter, from ₹3,909 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

RVNL’s filings also showed that the company’s operational-level earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) gained 232% YoY to ₹185 crore in the period under review, in comparison to ₹56 crore in the same period a year earlier.

On the margins front, Rail Vikar Nigam Ltd’s EBITDA margins expanded by 285 basis points to 4.27% in the June quarter of FY27, from 1.42% level in the same quarter last year, as per the exchange data.
