NLC India shares fall over 2% as Q2FY26 net profit drops 26% YoY

Shares of NLC India traded almost 2% lower on Wednesday afternoon, after the company announced its Q2FY26 results. The company’s net profit for the quarter slumped 26%. The shares traded 1.9% lower at ₹254 apiece on the NSE at 2:00 pm

On the topline front, the company’s Q2FY26 revenue growth jumped 14% YoY to ₹4178 crore as against ₹3657 crore in the same period last year. The mining segment revenue jumped from ₹2164 crore to ₹1616 crore in the same period last year. While the power generation segment remained flat at ₹3588 crore vs ₹3466 crore in the Q2FY25.

On the operational front, the company’s EBITDA, Earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation, jumped 30% YoY to ₹1,399 crore as against ₹1,072 crore. On the other hand, the EBITDA margin also expanded by over 300 basis points.

However, the bottom-line growth remained subdued by 26% YoY at ₹724 crore as against ₹982 crore in the previous year’s same quarter. The drop in the net profits can be partly attributed to higher tax expenses.

In addition, the company also gave in-principal approval to invest up to ₹666 crore in one or more tranches in NLC India Renewables Ltd, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, by way of subscription to equity at face value.

In 2025, shares of NLC India have remained largely unchanged on a YTD basis, and also remained flat on an annual basis as well.
