NIFTY50 trades above 22,900; broader indices outperform; check top buzzing stocks of the day

Stock market today: Sectorally, all indices, barring IT stocks, were trading in the green. The BSE Information Technology index was trading at 35,384.44, down 542.41 points, or 1.51%.

Stock market today: The equity headline indices were trading in the green in noon deals on Wednesday, March 19.

At 12:23 pm, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 75,463.43, up 162.17 points, or 0.22%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index was trading at 22,910.20, up 75.90 points, or 0.33%.

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index was trading at 40,908.43, up 718.90 points, or 1.79%, while the BSE SmallCap index was ruling at 45,843.45, up 812 points, or 1.80%.

Sectorally, all indices, barring IT stocks, were trading in the green. The BSE Information Technology index was trading at 35,384.44, down 542.41 points, or 1.51%.

Jio Financial Services: Shares of Jio Financial Services were trading 2.24% higher at ₹230.25 apiece on the BSE amid reports Allianz SE is preparing to create an alliance with Mukesh Ambani-led Jio Financial Services (JFSL). This follows Monday’s announcement that it was ending its 24-year joint venture with Bajaj Group.
GR Infraprojects: The stock rallied as much as 14.28% to ₹1,075 on the BSE after the company received a letter of acceptance from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the Agra‐Gwalior highway project worth ₹4,262.78 crore.

The construction of the Agra‐Gwalior Greenfield Road includes the development of six lanes of access-controlled Agra‐Gwalior greenfield highway, starting from Deori village in Uttar Pradesh's Agra to Susera village in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district.

Muthoot Finance: Shares of the gold financier surged as much as 4.55% to ₹2,423.50 apiece on the NSE as the company, in its filing to stock exchanges after market hours, said that S&P Global Ratings has upgraded the long-term issuer rating of Muthoot Finance Limited to ‘BB+/B’ with ‘Stable’ Outlook from ‘BB/B’ with ‘Stable’ Outlook.

"We expect the company to maintain its strong market position despite increasing competition. Muthoot benefits from strong brand recognition and a proven track record in gold loans," S&P Global Ratings added.

Mobikwik: Shares of One Mobikwik Systems rallied as much as 18.9% to ₹354.40 apiece on the NSE as, according to news reports, 46 lakh more shares become available for trade.

The company's three-month share lock-up expired on Monday.

SAIL, Tata Steel, and other steel stocks: Shares of steel companies such as SAIL, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) rallied as much as 5% on Wednesday, March 19, as the commerce ministry's investigation arm DGTR has recommended the imposition of a 12% provisional safeguard duty for 200 days on certain steel products to protect domestic players from a surge in imports. Vodafone Idea: Shares of Vodafone Idea (VIL) rallied as much as 5.2% to ₹7.47 apiece on the NSE after it launched 5G services in India, starting with Mumbai.

The telco's 5G introductory offer provides VI users with unlimited 5G data on plans starting at ₹299. The service seeks to improve the user experience for activities like online gaming, watching videos and OTT apps, video calls, and downloads.

The Phoenix Mills: Shares were trading 3.83% lower at ₹1,545.50 apiece on the NSE. The company is owned by the Ruia family. Its business activities include real estate development, planning, execution, marketing, management, maintenance, and sales of shopping, entertainment, commercial, residential, and hospitality assets.
Tanla Platforms: Shares of the company were trading 15% higher at ₹510.30 apiece on the BSE. The stock witnessed a spurt in volume by more than 16.48 times.

Tanla is a leading company in the cloud communications space, processing over 800 billion interactions annually as a CPaaS provider.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE): The stock was trading around 17% higher at ₹1,598.60 apiece on the NSE.

The defence company reported an 11% on-year rise in net profit to Rs 98 crore for the quarter ended December 2024.

Revenue from operations for the quarter also grew 38% year-on-year to ₹1,271 crore, the company said in a statement.

L&T: Shares of the infra major were trading over 1% higher at ₹3,306.60 apiece on the NSE as the company is scheduled to be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, to seek approval for fundraising by way of debt issue.
Ideaforge Technology: Shares were trading nearly 13% higher at ₹380 apiece on the BSE. The stock has risen over 11% in a week, BSE data showed.
Voltas, Blue Star, other AC stocks: Shares of air conditioner (AC) manufacturers such as Voltas, Blue Star, Havells, Amber Enterprises, and EPACK Durable surged up to 5% after a news report suggested that the government has exempted critical air conditioning and refrigeration components from compulsory Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification to combat the upcoming summer season.
