Mid-day market check: SENSEX, NIFTY50 pare losses; Sona BLW, ONGC, Oil India among buzzing stocks

The Indian equity benchmarks staged partial recovery from intraday lows in noon deals owing to some buying interest in Tata Consultancy Services, Sun Pharma and HCL Technologies. The 30-shares SENSEX fell as much as 1,337 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,473 on the back of weak global markets amid escalating geopolitical tensions after Israel attacked Iran's nuclear and military sites. As of 12:00 pm, the SENSEX was down 667 points or 0.82% at 81,025 and NIFTY50 index was down 207 points or 0.83% at 24,681.

Here are buzzing stocks in Friday's session:

ONGC, Oil India: Shares of oil exploration companies such as ONGC and Oil India were trading higher in an otherwise weak market as crude oil prices surged in international markets after Israel attacked Iran stoking fears that Iran could disrupt the supply of crude oil as a retaliation to attacks.

Shares of ONGC rose as much as 3% and Oil India advanced nearly 3.5%.

The Brent crude oil prices jumped to hit a 5-month high of $78 per barrel, and WTI crude oil prices jumped 10% to hit a high of $77.5 per barrel on Friday morning.

HPCL, BPCL, Indian Oil: Shares of oil retailers like Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum up to 1.5% following spike in crude oil prices.

These shares along with shares of paint and tyre makers came under selling pressure as higher crude oil price impacts their margins negatively.

Sona BLW: Shares of Sona BLW Precision were trading nearly 2% lower at ₹501.50 apiece on the NSE in the early trade on Friday, June 13, as Sunjay Kapur, the chairman of the auto components firm (formerly Sona Comstar), passed away in London on Thursday due to a heart attack. He was 53.

According to reports, Kapur suffered cardiac arrest while playing golf.

"With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our esteemed Chairman and Non-Executive Director, Sunjay Kapur, on June 12, 2025, in England, United Kingdom," Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd (Sona Comstar) said in a regulatory filing.

Torrent Power: Shares of Torrent Power were trading at ₹1,417.90 apiece on the NSE, up 1.36% in the morning deals on Friday, June 13, after the company announced on Thursday that its arm, Torrent Green Energy Pvt Ltd, has emerged as a successful bidder for a 300 MW wind project.

The project, with a tariff of ₹3.97 per unit, is to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of execution of the power purchase agreement (PPA), with an estimated investment of about ₹2,650 crore.

Jubilant Ingrevia: Shares of Jubilant Ingrevia rose as much as 8.47% to hit an intraday high of ₹739.80 on heavy volumes. As many as 1.43 crore shares changed hands against average trading volume of 3.65 akh shares.
Jubilant Pharmova: Shares of Jubilant Pharmova fell 2.8% to ₹1,094 after its board approved sale of its active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) business on a slump sale basis to its arm Jubilant Biosys. Trading volumes saw a massive spike as 61.80 lakh shares changed hands against average trading volume of 1.41 lakh shares.
