Maruti shares jump 4% as total sales in January surge 6% YoY; check category-wise numbers

Maruti January 2025 sales: Shares of Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) rallied as much as 3.95% to ₹13,431.60 apiece on the BSE in the early trade on Monday, February 3, as India's largest carmaker reported a good set of sales numbers for January 2025. The company, in its press release, said that it sold a total of 212,251 units in January against 199,364 units sold in January 2024.

Maruti said that this figure is the highest-ever monthly sales volume. Total sales in the month include the highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 177,688 units, sales to other OEMs of 7,463 units, and exports of 27,100 units, it added.

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Category-wise numbers

Mini + Compact Segment

The company sold 96,488 units in January 2025 as compared to 92,382 units in the year-ago period. This implies a growth of 4.44%.

The Mini + Compact Segment includes brands such as Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR.

Mid-Size

The company sold a total of 768 units of Ciaz as compared to 363 units in January 2024.

Total Passenger Cars

The company sold a total of 97,256 passenger cars as compared to 92,745 units in January 2024. This suggests an increase of 4.86% YoY.

Utility Vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, XL6) sales stood at 65,093 units as against 62,038 units in the year-ago period.

Vans (Eeco) sales stood at 11,250 units as against 12,019 units in January 2024.

Total Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales (PV)

The company sold a total of 173,599 units as compared to 166,802 units in January 2024.

Total domestic sales, including LCV (PV+LCV), stood at 177,688, up 4.3% as against 170,214 units.

Sales to other OEMs stood at 7,463 units as against 5,229 units.

Total domestic sales (PV+LCV+OEM) stood at 185,151 units, up 5.53% YoY.

Total export sales rose 13.2% YoY to 27,100 units, while total sales (total domestic + export) stood at 212,251 units.
