LG Electronics India introduces new range of semi-automatic washing machines; shares rise nearly 2%

Share of India’s largest consumer electrical equipment manufacturer, LG Electronics India, surged nearly 2% on Monday afternoon after the company introduced a new range of washing machines ahead of the festive season.

The company announced the new product launch through an exchange filing on the NSE at 12:36 pm on Tuesday. Soon after, the share price jumped to an intraday high of ₹1,684 apiece on the NSE. However, amid the broader beaten-down sentiment, the shares scaled lower to trade near the flat line at ₹1,660 apiece at 2:45 pm.

The exchange filing read, “LG Electronics India Limited today announced the launch of its new range of Semi-Automatic Washing Machines, designed to deliver powerful washing performance, smarter convenience, durable construction and bold premium design. Available across 15 models in 8 kg to 12 kg capacities, the new lineup offers Indian consumers greater choice across family sizes, laundry needs and design preferences”.

LG Electronics India is the dominant player in India’s home appliances and consumer electronics market with significant market share across key categories. As of FY26, LG held a 34% share in refrigerators, ~30% in washing machines, ~20% in television panels and ~18% in room air conditioners.

Commenting on the new product launch, Young Min Hwang, Home Appliances Solution Sales Division Leader, LG Electronics India Ltd, said, “The new Semi-Automatic Washing Machine range is designed for consumers who expect more from everyday laundry. It combines LG’s trusted technology, durable engineering, premium design, and smart features that solve real household challenges”.

As of Q1FY27, LG Electronics India's revenue from operations grew 15.9% YoY to ₹7,233 crore, driven by volume and value-led growth. Consequently, the EBITDA margins expanded by 106 bps to 12.5%, driven by a judicious premium mix, operational volume growth, and strong demand for home entertainment products.
