Karur Vysya Bank, Canara HSBC Life Insurance, Sobha, ACE shares surge on spurt in volumes

The Indian equity benchmarks were trading with a negative bias in afternoon deals on Tuesday, July 21, dragged down by losses in heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Infosys, State Bank of India, ITC, Tata Consultancy Services and Eternal. The SENSEX fell as much as 371 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,135.

Here are stocks witnessing heavier than usual trading activity:
Karur Vysya Bank: Shares of the Kerala-based private sector lender rose as much as 13.43% to hit an intraday high of ₹341.80 after it recorded a 45% year-on-year (YoY) jump in net profit after tax (PAT) to ₹755.70 crore in the April to June quarter of the financial year ending 2026-27, compared to ₹521.45 crore in the same quarter of the previous year, according to the financial statements.

The bank’s net interest income, or the difference between the interest earned and interest expense, increased by 31% to ₹1,423 crore, from ₹1,080 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Trading volume in the stock jumped by 23.6 times to 7.09 crore shares compared with an average volume of 30 lakh shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE)/

On the BSE, 45.61 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average 1.65 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company: Shares of the life insurance company 11% to hit an intraday high of ₹166.50 after it posted a 20.15% YoY increase in its profit after tax (PAT) to ₹28.14 crore in the June FY27 quarter, compared to ₹23.42 crore in Q1 FY26.

Its net premium income saw a 23.83% YoY growth to ₹2,047.5 crore during the quarter under review.

Trading volume on NSE jumped by 23 .4 times to 3.74 crore shares compared with an average volume of 16 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 20 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 5.43 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Gujarat Fluorochemicals: Shares of the specialty chemicals maker rose as much as 7% to hit a fresh 52-week high of ₹4,630 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped by 5.15 times to 32,000 shares on the BSE compared with a two-week average of 6,177 shares.

Action Construction Equipment: Shares of the construction vehicle maker rose as much as 9% to an intraday high of ₹1,081 after its net profit in Q1 rose 23% to ₹119 crore from ₹97 crore in the year-ago period.

Trading volume jumped by 22.9 times to 53.50 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 2.33 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 3.3 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 22,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Sobha: Shares of the Bengaluru-based real estate developer jumped as much as 7.15% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,559.15 after its net profit surged 275% to ₹51 crore in June quarter from ₹13.6 crore in the year-ago period.

Trading volume jumped by 15 times to 18.45 lakh shares compared with ana average volume of 1.25 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 1.84 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 9,830 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
