The equity benchmark indices, NIFTY50 and BSE SENSEX, extended their early market gains during the afternoon market hours on Monday, July 27, as investors focused on lower crude oil prices, a rally in banking and IT heavyweight stocks, and a pause in attacks between the United States and Iran.

As per NSE data, the NIFTY50 index was trading 0.94% or 223 points higher at 23,991 points during the noon deals, compared to 23,767.45 points at the previous stock market close.

While the BSE SENSEX index was trading 1.03% higher at 76,842.91 points during Monday’s afternoon trading session, compared to 76,059.77 points at the previous stock market close.

The investor sentiment was further supported by the positive momentum from the Asian markets and the stronger value of the Indian rupee against the benchmark US dollar amid the latest reports of the US potentially looking to hold diplomatic talks with Iranians.

Prominent high-volume stocks today

IDFC First Bank: IDFC First Bank shares surged nearly 10% to their intraday high of ₹88.76 on Monday’s market, with its trading volumes surging to 16,12,58,563 shares due to the high interest post the institutional lender’s strong Q1 earnings.

The private sector bank’s June quarter PAT surged 132% to ₹1,075 crore, compared to ₹463 crore in the same period a year earlier. IDFC First Bank’s net interest margin (NIM) improved to 5.96% during the quarter under review as against 5.71% in the year-ago period.

Eternal: Eternal share price surged 6% to its intraday high of ₹296.75 per share during the trading session on July 27, with the trading volumes rising to 3,71,19,822 or over 3.71 crore during Monday’s market.
InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo): IndiGo shares surged 5% to their intraday high of ₹5,232.50 during Monday’s trading session, with the trading volumes surging to around 13,77,451 or over 13.77 lakh equity shares.

The airline company’s stock surged on Monday’s market after the US and Iran paused military strikes, resulting in a 6% drop in global crude oil prices. Brent crude oil prices declined 6.3% to their intraday low of $85.82 per bbl during the early market hours on July 27.
