Indian Oil records loss of ₹2,661 crore, revenue advances 18% QoQ in June quarter; check Q1 results

Indian Oil Q1 results: Government PSU Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Friday, July 31, reported its earnings for the April-June quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27).

The maharatna firm reported a standalone net loss of ₹2,661.37 crore during the quarter under revirew, compared to a profit of ₹11,377.51 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q4 FY26), according to a regulatory filing.

Its revenue from operations jumped 18.52% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to ₹2.76 lakh crore in the June quarter of FY27, as against ₹2.33 lakh crore in the quarter-ago period.

The oil marketing company’s (OMC’s) revenue from the petroleum products segment stood at ₹2.6 lakh crore for the reporting quarter, marking a 19.82% QoQ increase from ₹2.17 lakh crore in Q4 FY26.

It recorded a revenue of ₹9,516.94 crore from the petrochemicals segment, up 18.8% QoQ from ₹8,010.80 crore in the preceding quarter.

Furthermore, its revenue from the gas segment advanced 27.28% QoQ to ₹14,481.49 crore during the quarter, in contrast to ₹11,377.27 crore in the last quarter of FY26.

Recent updates

In a separate regulatory filing dated July 28, the OMC stated that it has made a cumulative investment of approximately ₹43,359 crore at Paradip, Odisha, encompassing its state-of-the-art Refinery Units (₹34,555 crore), Polypropylene Plant (₹3,150 crore), and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) Plant (₹5,654 crore).

In addition, the company will also invest ₹13,805 crore in the ongoing Paraxylene-Purified Terephthalic Acid (PX-PTA) project at Paradip to strengthen the petrochemical value chain.

Furthermore, around ₹4,382 crore is planned to be invested in the Bhadrak Textile Park Project through Joint venture with MCPI Private Limited to support Odisha’s textile sector.

It also plans to invest ₹1,064 crore in Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) based Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project through a Joint venture with the company, M11 Energy Transition Pvt. Ltd for producing SAF, it said.

Shares of Indian Oil closed 0.16% lower at ₹140.17 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday. However, the results were announced after the markets closed.
