Indegene, PB Fintech, Whirlpool shares spurt amid spike in volumes; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks were trading in a narrow range in noon deals on Friday, September 25, as gains in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Asian Paints and Reliance Industries were offset by losses in Infosys, Eternal, ICICI Bank, Trent and Hindustan Unilever.

The SENSEX traded in a band of 323 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 23,030 and a high of 23,122.

As of 12:01 pm, the SENSEX was up 122 points at 73,702 and NIFTY50 index advanced 9 points to 23,069.

Here are shares witnessing higher than usual trading activity:
Indegene: Shares of the healthcare research company advanced 4.8% to an intraday high of ₹622 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume in the stock jumped 4.8 times to 15.10 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 3.13 lakh shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

PB Fintech: Shares of the insurance distribution services provider dropped for a second straight session after staging its biggest single day fall on record in the previous session.

The stock dropped as much as 11.64%, from day’s highest level to an intraday low of ₹1,115.

It was mirroring losses in other insurance stocks after the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) proposed changes to the commission structure and regulations governing insurance distributors.

Trading volume jumped by 5 times to 3.14 crore shares compared with an average volume of 65.60 lakh shares on the NSE.

Whirlpool of India: Shares of the white goods maker surged 12.16% to an intraday high of ₹959.60 after the company clarified that it is not a party to discussions or negotiations of Whirlpool Corporation, the promoter selling stake in the company.

Trading volume surged 3.8 times to 1.53 crore shares compared with an average volume of 40.71 lakh shares on the NSE.

As many as 14.65 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average 2.5 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Godrej Industries: Shares of the diversified company rose as much as 4.4% to an intraday high of ₹1,147 after the company informed exchanges on Thursday that it sold 0.5% stake in Godrej Consumer Products.

Trading volume jumped 3.8 times to 1.78 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 51,237 shares on the NSE.

On the BSE, 14,000 shares were traded compared with its two-week average of 6,577 shares.

Balrampur Chini Mills: Shares of the sugar manufacturer advanced as much as 4.55% to an intraday high of ₹688.75.

The company on Thursday said that government of India awarded ₹75 crore in grant assistance by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, for establishing a 100 TPA PLA CoPolymer R&D Facility under the Government's flagship BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment & Employment) initiative.

Trading volume jumped by 2.8 times to 25.36 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 9.07 lakh shares.

As many as 1.43 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 83,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
