The government sold over 5.80 crore shares or up to 6% (including 3% greenshoe option) stake in Hindustan Copper through a two-day offer-for-sale (OFS).

Hindustan Copper share price: Shares of the state-owned mining and manufacturing firm, Hindustan Copper, are expected to be in the spotlight on Friday, August 28, as the company said its shareholders, at the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM), will consider a special resolution for raising funds via a qualified institutional placement (QIP) and through the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs).

According to a regulatory filing dated August 26, the company said that at its upcoming 59th AGM, slated for September 23, 2026, its members will consider raising funds through the issuance of equity shares via the QIP method.

If approved at the AGM, the company will allot up to 9.7 crore equity shares via QIP in one or more tranches for funding the capex expansion plan duly approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCE).

Furthermore, the PSU’s shareholders will also consider the issuance and allotment of secured or unsecured NCDs or bonds of up to ₹500 crore on a private placement basis in one or more tranches.

This comes after the Hindustan Copper's offer for sale (OFS) closed on Wednesday, August 26, with the government's 6% stake sale getting oversubscribed.

Institutional investors on Tuesday, August 25, oversubscribed Hindustan Copper share sale 3.41 times and put in bids worth over ₹4,600 crore. The OFS was open for retail investors on Wednesday.

Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Arunish Chawla said the issue received "an enthusiastic response from retail investors".

“The Offer for Sale (OFS) for Hindustan Copper Ltd closed successfully with an enthusiastic response from retail investors. The issue was oversubscribed on both days, and the Government decided to exercise its entire greenshoe option,” Chawla said on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter).

The government sold over 5.80 crore shares or up to 6% (including 3% greenshoe option) stake in Hindustan Copper through a two-day offer-for-sale (OFS) at a floor price of ₹514 apiece through the two-day OFS.

The floor price was set at a 10.38% discount over Monday's closing share price.

Hindustan Copper stock performance

Shares of Hindustan Copper closed 3.55% lower at ₹536.30 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday, August 26. However, the development was announced after the market closed.

The scrip has lost 4% in the past week but gained 12% over the month. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it has risen 3%.

While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹760.05 per equity share on January 29, 2026, it touched a year’s low of ₹226.70 apiece on August 28, 2025.

Hindustan Copper has a total market capitalisation of ₹52,074.24 crore as of August 27, 2026, according to data on the NSE.
