Hindustan Copper: Govt to sell up to 6% stake via OFS; check floor price details

Hindustan Copper shares will be in the spotlight as the government on Monday, August 24, said that it will sell up to 6% stake in the firm through an offer for sale (OFS) at a floor price of ₹514 a share.

The floor price is at a 10.38% discount over Monday's closing share price of Hindustan Copper on the BSE.

In a post on X, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) secretary Arunish Chawla said the Government of India offers to divest 3% equity in Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) through an Offer for Sale (OFS), with an option to divest an additional 3% (green shoe) in case of oversubscription.

The OFS will open at a floor price of ₹514 per share.

According to Chawla, 10% of the offer is reserved for retail investors, with an additional 25,000 shares set aside for eligible employees.

So far in the current fiscal, the government has mopped up ₹52,716 crore through PSU disinvestment.

Hindustan Copper Q1 results

Hindustan Copper reported a 162% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated net profit to ₹352 crore, in comparison to ₹134 crore in the same period a year earlier. However, on a sequential basis, its net profit declined 20% to its June quarter level from ₹444.27 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.

The company also posted an 81% rise in its revenue from core operations to ₹937 crore in the June quarter, compared YoY with ₹516 crore in the same period a year earlier, according to the consolidated statements.

The company's revenues increased in the period under review due to the overall increase in copper prices.

Hindustan Copper share price trends

On Monday, Hindustan Copper shares settled at ₹574.15 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, rising 0.25%. The development, however, came after the market hours.

Over a month’s time, the stock has gained 17.5%, while it has advanced 1% in the past six months. From the beginning of the year, Hindustan Copper shares have climbed 9%.

Shares of the company had touched their one-year high of ₹760.05 apiece on January 29, 2026, while their 52-week low of ₹226.70 was hit on August 28, 2025.

As of August 24, 2026, Hindustan Copper has a market capitalisation of ₹54,917.29 crore, NSE data showed.
