UCO Bank shares in spotlight as board approves raising foreign currency funds up to $1 billion

UCO Bank share price: Shares of UCO Bank are expected to be on investors' radar on Tuesday, August 25, as its board of directors, at its meeting, approved raising foreign currency funds to the extent of $1 billion.

According to a regulatory filing dated August 24, the bank’s board of directors considered and approved raising foreign currency funds in one or more tranches through the issuance of debt instruments through the Medium Term Note (MTN) programme.

UCO Bank Q1 results

The bank reported an 8.05% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹656 crore in the June quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27), compared with ₹607 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Its net interest income (NII) advanced 16.86% YoY to ₹2,808 crore during the quarter under review from the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26).

The bank saw its domestic net interest margin (NIM) expand by six basis points (bps) YoY to 3.24% in Q1 FY27, in contrast to 3.18% in the year-ago period. Furthermore, its global NIM grew by nine bps YoY to 3.05% from 2.96%.

Its asset quality improved, with the bank’s gross non-performing assets (GNPA) declining by 55 bps YoY to 2.08% and its net non-performing assets (NNPA) falling by 20 bps YoY to 0.25% for the reporting quarter.

UCO Bank stock performance

Shares of UCO Bank closed 0.66% higher at ₹25.89 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday, August 24. However, the announcement was made after the market closed.

The scrip has lost 1% over the week and 12% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis. While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹34.20 per equity share on October 31, 2025, it touched a year’s low of ₹22.22 apiece on March 30, 2026.
