Last week, the state-run firm said that five Tejas light combat aircraft are set for delivery to the Indian Air Force. In February 2021, the Ministry of Defence had finalised a ₹48,000 crore deal with the aerospace major for the procurement of 83 Tejas Mk-1A jets for the IAF.

The deliveries of Tejas jets are facing delays due to GE Aerospace missing several deadlines to supply aero engines. "The HAL confirms that five aircraft are fully ready for delivery, incorporating major contracted capabilities in accordance with the agreed specifications," a spokesperson of HAL had said.
