Graphite India, Reliance Power, DLF shares spurt amid heavy volumes; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks extended losses in noon deals on Wednesday, September 9, as investor sentiment remained cautious tracking a surge in crude prices and rising bond yields in the United States.

The SENSEX fell as much as 663 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 23,466 dragged down by losses in heavyweights Infosys, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel.

As of 12:17 pm, the SENSEX was down 642 points at 74,936 and NIFTY50 index dropped 151 points to 23,484.

Here are shares witnessing heavier than usual trading activity:
Graphite India: Shares of the country's leading graphite electrodes maker advanced as much as 18.5% to a fresh 52-week high of ₹870 after global graphite electrode maker GrafTech International announced a minimum 30% price increase for all open commercial negotiations, effective immediately.

Trading volume in the stock jumped by 28 times to 2.45 crore shares compared with an average volume of 8.72 lakh shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

As many as 16.35 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 86,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Onesource Specialty Pharma: Shares of the drugmaker dropped as much as 4.79% to an intraday low of ₹1,510.05 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume on the NSE jumped eight times to 19.43 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 2.43 lakh shares.

A total of 8.28 lakh shares were traded on the BSE compared with its two-week average of 19,000 shares.

DLF: Shares of the country's leading real estate developer declined as much as 2% to an intraday low of ₹661.80 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume on the NSE surged 5.7 times to 1.43 crore shares compared with an average volume of 25.13 lakh shares.

On the BSE, as many as 52 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 2 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Coforge: Shares of the IT company dropped nearly 9% to an intraday low of ₹1,780.10 after O.P. Bhatt resigned as the company’s Non-Executive Independent Director and Chairperson with immediate effect on September 8.

The resignation followed concerns raised during an internal audit review of the board evaluation process, including the disclosure of certain material information relating to the Board Evaluation Report and the Chairperson’s performance.

Trading volume jumped 4.5 times to 67.37 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 14.9 lakh shares on the NSE.

Reliance Power: Shares of the Anil Ambani-backed power generation company advanced as much as 5.43% to an intraday high of ₹22.89 amid spike in trading activity.

Trading volume jumped 3.7 times to 5.14 crore shares as against an average volume of 1.38 crore shares.

As many as 31.51 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 15.8 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
