The equity market indices staged a healthy recovery during the trading session on Friday, October 9, as investors focused on the rebound after Thursday’s massive sell-off due to easing US Treasury yields and a pullback in crude oil prices.

The majority of stocks were among the gainers, with IT stocks leading the pack after the earnings momentum triggered by TCS’s earnings update.

Exchange data showed that the NIFTY50 index was up 1.46% at 22,555 points as of 2:30 pm (IST), while the BSE SENSEX was up 1.4% at 72,585 points during the trading session on October 9.

There were several high-volume stocks on Friday’s market, as investors carried out buying across the sectors. Here are a few popular stocks on the list.

Stocks witnessing high-volume trading activity

Hexaware Technologies

Shares of Hexaware Technologies rallied 12.3% to touch an intraday high of ₹574.50 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹511.40 apiece at the previous equity market close, according to NSE data.

Trading volumes surged 115.54 times to more than 2.47 crore equity shares on the National Stock Exchange during Friday’s market, in comparison to the average trading volumes of 2,14,310 equity shares over the past one week.

On a two-week average trading volume basis, the market activity witnessed a 143.52 times surge to Friday’s highs from 1,72,527 average volume levels.

Latest updates showed that the high-volume gains were triggered by a multi-year partnership between Hexaware Technologies and Anthropic, which plans to bring Anthropic’s Claude to the core of two Hexaware platforms.

With more than 1,100 Claude-certified professionals at Hexaware’s helm, both firms aim to work together on go-to-market, joint solution development, and customer deployments, and Hexaware will expand Claude training across its delivery teams.

Studds Accessories

Shares of Studds Accessories surged more than 12% to hit an intraday high of ₹466.55 apiece during the trading session on Friday, in comparison to ₹416 apiece at the previous stock market close, as per the exchange data.

Trading volumes jumped to 32,55,988 equity shares, triggering the high-volume gains during the market session on October 9. The trading activity levels on Friday represented a 56 times increase in volume over the one-week average of 58,105 equity shares.

On a two-week basis, the average trading volume was around 51,233 shares, as per the exchange data.

Last week, the company’s corporate update showed that the commencement of commercial production at the Haryana manufacturing facility has been delayed on account of certain operational and procedural matters taking longer than anticipated.

R Systems International

R Systems International stock price rallied 17% to hit an intraday high of ₹435.90 apiece on Friday’s market, compared to ₹242.85 apiece at the previous equity market close, according to NSE data.

Trading volumes surged 12.02 times to more than 2.52 crore equity shares on the National Stock Exchange on Friday, in comparison to the average trading volumes of 21,01,415 equity shares over the past week.

On a two-week trading volume basis, the market activity witnessed a 1.66 times surge to Friday’s highs from 1,51,89,753 average volume levels.

Latest updates showed that the ratings agency ICRA reaffirmed its credit ratings on R Systems International at the AA- category.

Colgate Palmolive

NSE data showed that Colgate Palmolive shares surged 7.6% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,868.90 apiece during the trading session on October 9, in comparison to ₹1,735.70 apiece at the previous stock market close.

Trading volumes jumped to 26,69,365 equity shares, triggering the high-volume gains during the market session on Friday. The trading activity levels on October 9 represented an 8.5 times increase in volume over the one-week average of 3,12,665 equity shares.

On a two-week basis, the average trading volume was around 3,26,356 shares.

Latest media reports showed that the 57th GST Council recommended changes to the input tax credit (ITC) rules, which include removing restrictions on credit of free sanctions and other business expenses.

FMCG companies like Colgate remained in the focus of investors after the GST Council’s announcement, as these firms often distribute product samples and manage inventories across their supply chains.

Ujaas Energy

Shares of Ujaas Energy surged 10% to hit an intraday high of ₹214.94 apiece on October 9, compared to ₹195.40 apiece at the previous stock market close, as per the exchange data.

NSE data also showed that the trading volumes increased 7.3 times to more than 1.13 lakh equity shares on the National Stock Exchange during Friday’s market, in comparison to the average trading volumes of 15,554 equity shares over the past one week.

On a two-week average trading volume basis, the market activity witnessed a 7.18 times surge to Friday’s highs from 15,813 average volume levels.
