The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, were trading flat with a negative bias during the afternoon session on Tuesday, July 28, despite a rally in information technology (IT) stocks, amid subdued global sentiments.

At 1:32 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX declined by 34.85 points, or 0.04%, to trade at 76,800.93. Meanwhile, NSE’s NIFTY50 stood at 23,987.45, marking an 8.50-point, or 0.03% fall.

The top losers in the NIFTY50 index included Hindustan Unilever, Coal India, Bharat Electronics, Tata Consumer Products, NTPC and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

On the other hand, the top gainers were Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra, Eternal, Infosys and Nestle India.

Coforge

Shares of Coforge soared as much as 9.99% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,680 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday, July 28, as the mid-tier IT services company reported a strong set of numbers for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27). The company also announced an interim dividend.

It posted a 110% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its profit after tax (PAT) to ₹518.6 crore. In US dollar terms, PAT stood at $55.6 million, up 46% YoY.

According to the company's press release, Coforge's revenue came in at ₹5,527.7 crore in rupee terms, up 49% YoY. In US dollar terms, revenue came in at $592.2 million, up 33% YoY.

The company said its board at the meeting held on July 27, 2026, has declared an interim dividend of ₹4 per equity share of the company having face value of ₹2 each, fully paid-up, for the Financial Year 2026-27. August 03, 2026, has been fixed as the Record Date for the purpose of ascertaining the eligibility of shareholders for payment of the interim dividend. Read More.
Hindustan Unilever

The stock of Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) fell over 6% to touch the session’s low of ₹2,034.20 per equity share on the NSE, as investors reacted to the FMCG firm’s earnings for the April-June quarter of FY27.

The FMCG player reported a 3% YoY decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹2,673 crore in the first quarter of FY27, compared with ₹2,756 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, according to a regulatory filing.

The company saw its bottom line fall following a one-off tax credit during the quarter.

Its revenue from operations grew 10.05% YoY to ₹17,341 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹15,757 crore in the June quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26). Read More.
Bharat Electronics Ltd

Bharat Electronics (BEL) shares declined nearly 4% during the trading session on Tuesday, July 28, as investors focused on the defence equipment manufacturer’s lower-than-expected margins and a sequential drop in performance in the June quarter of the financial year 2026-27.

On Monday evening, Bharat Electronics posted a 9% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated net profit to ₹1,054.34 crore in the April to June quarter results of the financial year 2026-27, from ₹969.91 crore in the same period a year earlier.

However, on a sequential basis, the company’s profits declined nearly 53% to its June quarter levels, from ₹2,225.22 crore in the fourth quarter of the year ended 2025-26.

Experts predict that emerging opportunities and indigenisation will remain key focus areas for Bharat Electronics, while the margin growth guidance is maintained at 28% by the company management for the financial year 2026-27, despite them missing near-term estimates.

Larsen & Toubro

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) stock climbed as much as 1% on July 28, after the firm said it has completed the Framework Cooperation Agreement (FCA) for a two-gigawatt (GW) offshore wind programme with TenneT.

According to a regulatory filing, the programme is ultra-mega in nature, and as per L&T’s classification, that translates to an order worth over ₹15,000 crore.

L&T, in consortium with Hitachi Energy, entered into an FCA covering, in principle, six projects and future opportunities under TenneT’s ambitious 2-GW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) programme.

The EPC giant is also set to report its earnings for Q1 FY27 today.

Godfrey Phillips

Godfrey Phillips India shares slumped by as much as 8.7% to hit an intraday low of ₹2,018.20 apiece, as market investors focused on the company’s heavy excise duty expense in the April to June quarter of the financial year 2026-27, weighing down overall profits despite revenue growth.

Godfrey Phillips' board of directors announced its April to June quarter FY2027 earnings after market hours on Monday, which disclosed that the cigarettes maker posted a 44.3% YoY decline in consolidated net profits (attributable to owners) to ₹198.39 crore, from ₹356.31 crore in the same period a year ago.

The Indian central government imposed the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, effective from February 1, 2026, revising the framework of excise duties levied on manufactured tobacco products, unmanufactured tobacco and all other tobacco-related products in the country.

For cigarette makers like Godfrey Phillips, the excise duty imposed on manufactured tobacco products was increased from 25% to 40%. In the case of smoking mixtures for pipes and cigarettes, the duty was increased from 60% to 325%.

Swiggy

Swiggy shares jumped as much as 6% to touch an intraday high of ₹273 apiece on Tuesday, July 28, after the firm said it appointed Nandita Sinha as Chief Executive Officer of Instamart.

Sinha, who was earlier the CEO of Myntra, will be succeeding Amitesh Jha and will be taking charge from August 3, 2026.

She will lead Instamart's next phase, building on the platform's differentiated assortment strategy, growth momentum, improved profitability metrics, customer focus and operational excellence.

In her last role, Nandita led Myntra to become India's largest fashion e-commerce business, continuing to gain market share in a highly competitive market after achieving EBITDA profitability in 2024.

R R Kable

R R Kabel shares rallied 10% to hit a 52-week high of ₹2,775 apiece on Tuesday, July 28, as investors cheered the company’s performance in Q1 FY27.

The electrical cable-making firm posted a 128% growth in its consolidated net profit at ₹205 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year (Q1 FY27) as compared to ₹90 crore logged during the same period last year.

The company’s revenue from operations increased 54% to ₹3,168 crore in the April-June quarter as against ₹2,059 crore seen in the year-ago period.

Supreme Industries

Supreme Industries stock gained as much as 4.6% to hit an intraday high of ₹3,492.80 per equity share, after posting a 38.26% YoY rise in consolidated net profit to ₹281 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to ₹202.30 crore a year back.

Its revenue from operations rose 4.16% YoY to ₹2,717.66 crore.
