CMPDI posted its Q1 results and dividend issue update for the financial year ending 2026-27, late evening on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Coal India-arm, Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) shares surged over 7% at the opening bell on Tuesday, July 21, after the company posted a 54% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its net profits in the April to June quarter earnings for the financial year ending 2026-27.
NSE data showed that CMPDI shares surged more than 7% to their early market high of ₹271.43 apiece on Tuesday’s market, compared to ₹253.46 per share at the previous stock market close.
After opening at the 4% high level, the company shares were temporarily trading lower on the stock exchange, only to rise to its intraday high during the morning market hours as investors reacted to the positive earnings announcement and dividend update.
At 9:46 am, CMPDI share price was trading 6.7% higher at 270.70 during the market hours on July 21.
The exchange filings showed that CMPDI posted a 53.8% rise in net profit (attributable to the owners of the company) to ₹116.27 crore in the first quarter of the fiscal year ending 2026-27, compared YoY with ₹75.56 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
The company’s revenue from core operations advanced 17.6% to ₹481.37 crore in the June quarter, compared with ₹409.25 crore in the same period last year.
CMPDI’s earnings report also showed that the company’s operational-level EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation) witnessed a 62% YoY growth to ₹168 crore, from ₹103 crore in the same period a year earlier.
While the EBITDA margins expanded to 34.92% in the first quarter, from 25.38% in the same quarter of the previous year. In line with the profitability growth, the profit margins also advanced to 23.07%, from 17.85% in the same period a year earlier.
On a segmental basis, the company’s revenues from planning & designing, exploration, and environment business increased in the period under review, while the revenues from geomatics business dropped YoY.
CMPDI’s board of directors declared that the company will issue a ₹1.05 per share first interim dividend for the financial year ending 2026-27 to all eligible shareholders, according to an exchange filing.
The company disclosed that every eligible shareholder will receive a dividend payment of ₹1.05 apiece on the face value of ₹2 per share, up to one day ahead of the predetermined official record date of the corporate action.
CMPDI also confirmed that the official record date for the interim dividend issue is fixed on Friday, July 24, 2026, and the payment will be credited to the eligible shareholders on or before August 19, 2026.
Along with an interim dividend for the April to Jun quarter of FY27, CMPDI also announced the official record date for its final dividend issue for the financial year ended 2025-26 after the meeting on Monday.
The company fixed Monday, August 10, 2026, as the official record date to determine the eligibility of shareholders for the ₹1.06 per share final dividend issue.
Company shareholders will be eligible to receive the final dividend issue up to 24 hours ahead of the record date, in this case, the previous week’s final trading session as the record date of the corporate action is a Monday.
CMPDI shares have delivered more than 75% returns to investors on a year-to-date (YTD) basis in the current calendar year, and over 8% gains on their investment in the last one-month period, according to NSE data.
However, the shares of the company were trading 0.14% lower on the stock exchange.
