Shares of SBI Funds Management, which serves as the investment manager for SBI Mutual Fund, made a tepid debut on the stock exchanges on Tuesday, July 21.

The stock started trading at ₹613.30 per equity share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This reflects a premium of 6.85% over the IPO issue price of ₹574 apiece.

On the BSE, the scrip debuted at ₹610, up 6.27% from the issue price.

The ₹9,812.91 crore public issue was entirely an offer-for-sale (OFS) of up to 17.09 crore shares by promoters State Bank of India (SBI) and Amundi India Holding.

"Our company expects that listing of the equity shares will enhance our visibility and brand image as well as provide a public market for the equity shares in India," SBI Mutual Fund said in its red herring prospectus (RHP).

The issue size was earlier set at ₹11,693 crore but was subsequently reduced after the firm completed a pre-IPO placement of around ₹1,880 crore.

The initial share sale was subscribed 41.66 times, with bids for 5,18,95,47,480 shares compared to 12,45,63,536 shares on offer, according to the NSE data.

Prior to the IPO, the company had attracted ₹2,663 crore in the anchor round from investors, including HDFC Mutual Fund (MF), ICICI Prudential MF, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), GIC, Nippon India MF, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Capital World Investors, HDFC Life Insurance, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Fidelity Management & Research, BlackRock and Norges Bank.

Set up in 1987, SBI Funds Management Ltd is the largest asset management company in India on the basis of quarterly average assets under management, with ₹12.51 lakh crore in mutual funds and a 15.3% market share as of March 31, 2026.
