Birla Corporation shares jump 4% on commencing commercial operations at Bikram Coal Mine

Birla Corporation share price: Shares of the M P Birla Group firm, Birla Corporation, were trading with gains on Tuesday, June 23, after the company announced the commencement of coal mining operations at Bikram Coal Mine.

According to a regulatory filing dated Monday, the Bikram Coal Mine, located in Burhar, Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, commenced its commercial production of coal with effect from June 22, 2026.

“The aforesaid event occurred on 22nd June, 2026 at around 1.45 p.m. (IST),” the filing read.

Birla Corporation Q4 results

The company reported a 14.88% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹294.77 crore in the January-March quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q4 FY26), compared with ₹256.6 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year.

However, its revenue from operations rose marginally to ₹2,836.12 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹2,814.91 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year (Q4 FY25).

The firm’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) stood at ₹549 crore in the March quarter of FY26, reflecting a 5.6% YoY decline from ₹582 crore in the year-ago period.

Its cement sales by volume in the quarter grew 4% YoY to 5.45 million tonnes (mt), the highest ever for a quarter, even as realisations remained subdued, despite strong demand.

Shares of Birla Corporation gained as much as 4% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,047 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday, June 23. The development was announced on June 22 after the market closed.

At around 10:38 AM, the stock was trading 1% higher at ₹1,016.80 apiece. The scrip has gained more than 2% in the past week and nearly 2% over the month. However, on a year-to-date basis, it has lost 8%.

While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹1,535.30 per equity share on July 30, 2025, it touched a year’s low of ₹769.60 apiece on March 16, 2026.
