Shares of automobile companies are likely to remain in focus during Monday’s trading session. The Indian automakers reported their January sales numbers over the weekend.
The auto maker’s total motorcycle sales grew 20% to 91,132 units in January as against 76,187 units same period last year. Sales volumes for Royal Enfield have grown by 6% to 7.27 lakh units, compared to 6.85 lakh units sold during the same period the previous year. Its international business sales grew 79% at 10,080 units against the year-ago figure.
Shares of the company closed at ₹5,388 last week, rising 3.69% on BSE.
The world’s largest motorcycle and scooter manufacturer sold 442,873 units in January as against 433,598 units same period last year. Hero MotorCorp in January exported 30,495 units as against 12,664 units same period last year. Domestically, the company has sold 412,378 units during the reporting period.
Hero MotorCorp’s shares closed at ₹4402.90 a piece on Saturday, rising 1.43%.
The country’s largest carmaker’s dispatches from factories rose 6% YoY to 2,12,251 units in January. Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) had dispatched a total of 1,99,364 units in January 2024.
Total domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,73,599 units last month against 1,66,802 units in the year-ago period, a growth of 4.07%, MSI said in a statement.
Shares of the company advanced 4.98% on BSE at ₹12,921.20.
Sales of Alto and S-Presso declined to 14,247 units last month compared to 15,849 units during the corresponding month of the preceding year. Compact car dispatches, including models like Baleno and Swift, rose to 82,241 units last month from 76,533 vehicles in January 2024. Utility vehicle sales grew to 65,093 units last month over 62,038 units in the year-ago period.
Exports grew to 27,100 units last month against 23,921 units a year ago.
Tata Motors’s total vehicle dispatches declined 7% year-on-year (YoY) to 80,304 units in January. The auto major dispatched 86,125 units in January 2024.
Total domestic sales declined 7% YoY to 78,159 units last month, as compared to 84,276 units in the year-ago period, Tata Motors said in a statement. Its total commercial vehicle sales stood at 31,988 units last month, as compared to 32,092 units in January 2024.
Tata Motors shares closed at ₹706.10 on BSE, falling 1.28% on Saturday.
Total passenger vehicle dispatches fell 11% YoY to 48,316 units in January, as against 54,033 units in the year-ago period.
The auto maker’s total sales declined 3% YoY to 65,603 units in January. The company had dispatched 67,615 vehicles in January 2024.
Hyundai Motor India sold 54,003 units in its domestic market last month compared to 57,115 units in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.
Shares of the company surged 4.3% on BSE closing at ₹1750.40 apiece.
Exports stood at 11,600 units last month against 10,500 vehicles in January 2024. The company stated that the introduction of Creta Electric helped the mid-sized SUV brand to achieve its highest-ever domestic monthly sales of 18,522 units in January this year.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s sales increased by 19% YoY to 29,371 units in January. The company had dispatched 24,609 units in the same month last year.
The automaker sold 26,178 units in the domestic market and exported 3,193 units last month.
The continued momentum underscores the company's sharp focus on customer centricity, enhancing customer access across the country, and increased emphasis on innovative value-added solutions, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) reported a 16% growth in total sales at 85,432 units in January 2025.
Its passenger vehicle sales grew 18% to 50,659 units against 43,068 units in the same month last year, the company said in a statement.
The domestic sales for commercial vehicles stood at 23,917 units, it added.
Shares of the auto major rose 2.96% on BSE, ending at ₹3,080.15.

Bajaj Auto on Monday reported a 7% growth YoY in its total sales, including exports, to 381,040 units in January.
The Pune-based automobile firm had recorded a total sales of 356,010 vehicles in January 2024, according to a Bajaj Auto Ltd statement.
Total domestic sales, including commercial vehicles, declined 9 per cent to 208,359 units last month from 230,043 units in January 2024.
