Ather Energy shares jumped 8% to touch an early market high of ₹1,616 on Friday, August 28.
Two-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) maker Ather Energy shares surged 8% during the trading session on Friday, August 28, as investors focused on a ₹1,758 crore stake transaction during the morning block deal window on NSE, and Hero MotoCorp’s move to purchase additional shares of the company.
NSE data showed that Ather Energy shares jumped 8% to touch an intraday high of ₹1,616 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹1,495.90 apiece at the previous equity market close.
As per the exchange filing, Hero MotoCorp, a promoter entity in the EV maker, announced after market hours on Thursday that the company’s board of directors, in its meeting, has approved the decision to purchase additional equity shares of Ather Energy from an existing shareholder.
Ather Energy shares were rising on Friday’s market as investors were reacting primarily to the latest update from promoter company, Hero MotoCorp, increasing its stake in Ather Energy.
Investors were also trading against the backdrop of a ₹1,758 crore block deal transaction which was carried out on August 28.
The transaction details collected from the NSE website showed that an unnamed set of buyer and seller carried out a 1,18,80,000 equity share transaction, which was valued at ₹1,758.24 crore during the morning block deal window on Friday’s market.
This ₹1,758 crore transaction is the same value, at par with the cost of acquisition of Hero MotoCorp’s additional stake purchase deal, which is estimated to be completed by September 3, 2026.
However, the morning block deal window data has not confirmed the buyer and seller names which have exchanged the stakeholding of the EV maker.
Ather Energy’s promoter entity, Hero MotoCorp, owned a total of 29.88% stake in the EV maker as of August 25, 2026, before the purchase of additional stake from an existing shareholder as per the latest deal.
After the additional stake purchase is completed, Hero MotoCorp will own a total of 32.8% stake in Ather Energy, marking an increase of 2.92%, which has been approved to be purchased from the shareholder in the open market.
NSE data as of July 20, 2026, showed that Ather Energy’s corporate shareholding structure comprises a 39.58% ownership stake from the promoter and promoter group entities, and the remaining 60.42% stake is owned by public shareholders.
After the stake purchase update, Hero MotoCorp shares were also trading higher, up 1.4% at ₹5,627 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹5,550 apiece at the previous market close.
Shares of Ather Energy have delivered more than 262% returns to their investors in the last one-year period, and more than 110% gains on their investment on a year-to-date (YTD) basis, according to the exchange data.
NSE data also showed that Ather Energy stock has risen 29.5% in the past one month and was trading 6.5% higher in the last five market sessions.
Ather shares surged to their 52-week high of ₹1,580 apiece on August 12, 2026, while the 52-week low was at ₹421.60 apiece on August 29, 2025. The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at ₹61,690 crore as of the trading session on Friday, August 28, 2026.
