Adani Green Energy reports 31% rise in Q1 operational capacity

Adani Green Energy Ltd shares gained over 1% in early trade on Thursday, July 18, after the company announced that its operational capacity increased by 31% in the June 2024 quarter (Q1FY25) compared with the year-ago period.

In its quarterly update for Q1FY25, released after market hours on Tuesday, the company said that its operational capacity stood at 10,934 MW at the end of the June quarter, with the greenfield addition of 2,418 MW solar and 200 MW wind power plants.

The Adani group firm said that energy sales increased by 22% to 7,356 million units in Q1FY25, backed by robust capacity addition.

The company added that it was witnessing a steady growth in generation at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 49% over the last 4 years, with an increasing proportion of merchant power. Adani Green also claimed that it was consistently generating electricity significantly above commitment under the power purchase agreements (PPA).

Adani Green also informed the stock exchanges that its solar portfolio capacity utilisation factor (CUF) stood at 25.4%, backed by 99.4% plant availability, while the wind portfolio CUF was 36.2%, backed by 96.8% plant availability.

CUF refers to the ratio of the actual output from a plant over the year to the maximum possible output from it for a year under ideal conditions.

After the release of the quarterly update, shares of Adani Green gained as much as 1.19% to an intraday high of ₹1,780.95 apiece on the NSE in morning deals. However, the stock pared early gains and plunged up to 1.36% to an intraday low of ₹1,736 apiece.

Adani Green Energy was recently in the news after ratings firm India Ratings and Research upgraded its long-term issuer rating to 'IND AA-’ from ‘IND A+’, with ‘Stable’ outlook factoring in the strong operational performance, continuously improving leverage, healthy cash flows along with equity infusion by promoters.

Adani Green Energy shares closed at ₹1,748 apiece, down 0.68%, on the NSE.
