BHEL posts ₹377 crore Q1 profit, reversing YoY loss; revenue jumps 40%, shares at 52-week high

BHEL Q1 results: Defence PSU Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) on Thursday, July 16, reported its earnings for the April-June quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year (Q1 FY27).

The Maharatna firm reported a consolidated net profit of ₹376.71 crore during the quarter under review, compared with a loss of ₹455.50 crore in the first quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q1 FY26), according to a regulatory filing.

However, the profit declined 70.8% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) from ₹1,290.47 crore in the March quarter of FY26 (Q4 FY26).

The company’s revenue from operations jumped 40.29% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹7,698 crore in the first quarter of FY27, compared to ₹5,487 crore in the year-ago period.

On a sequential basis, its revenue fell 37.47% QoQ from ₹12,310 crore in the preceding quarter.

Segment-wise highlights

During the quarter under review, the company clocked ₹5,919.50 crore in revenue from the power segment, reflecting a 51.82% YoY increase from ₹3,898.86 crore in the June F26 quarter.

However, it dropped 37.75% QoQ from ₹9,509.85 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.

Its revenue from the industry segment rose 11.97% YoY to ₹1,778.22 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, as against ₹1,588.05 crore in the same period last year. Sequentially, it declined by 36.5% QoQ from ₹2,800.52 crore in the previous quarter.

BHEL stock performance

Shares of BHEL surged as much as 5.5% to hit a 52-week high of ₹437.85 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on July 16, following the result announcement. It touched a year’s low of ₹205.12 apiece on August 29, 2025.

Eventually, the scrip closed at ₹440.10, up 5.30% on the NSE.

The stock has gained more than 15% in the past week and 14% over the month. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it has advanced 51%.
