The five-day conference, running from June 8 to June 12, will bring together developers from around the world through online sessions, virtual labs and technical workshops, with the opening keynote traditionally serving as the platform for Apple's biggest software announcements.

In a promotional video ahead of the event, Apple said WWDC 2026 would feature more than 100 sessions for developers, group labs hosted by Apple engineers and designers, and activities aimed at helping developers build apps across the company's ecosystem.

When is the keynote?

Apple's keynote address will begin at 10 am Pacific Time (10:30 pm IST) on June 8.

The keynote will be followed by Apple's "Platform State of the Union" presentation outlining updates across its software platforms.

Where can it be watched?

The event will be streamed live through Apple's website, YouTube channel and Apple TV application.

What is Apple expected to announce?

The conference comes at a time when Apple is under pressure to accelerate its AI strategy amid intense competition from rivals such as Google, Microsoft and OpenAI.

The most anticipated announcement is an overhaul of Siri, Apple's voice assistant.

Media reports suggest Siri could become a more capable AI assistant that understands personal context, analyses what is on a user's screen and performs actions across multiple applications.

The upgraded assistant is also expected to feature deeper integration with Google's Gemini AI model, which already supports some Apple Intelligence features.

Reports have suggested that users may gain the option to access third-party AI models through Siri and other Apple Intelligence tools, while new interfaces could make AI interactions more prominent across Apple's devices.

New operating systems

Apple is widely expected to unveil the latest versions of software across its product lineup, including:

  • iOS 27 for iPhones
  • iPadOS 27 for iPads
  • macOS 27 for Mac computers
  • watchOS 27 for Apple Watch
  • tvOS 27 for Apple TV
  • visionOS 27 for the Vision Pro headset

Apple is also expected to introduce AI-powered features for its Camera and Photos applications, including enhanced visual search and image-editing capabilities.

Some reports indicate users may be able to conduct reverse image searches directly from the Camera app and use visual intelligence tools to identify objects and extract information from images.

Will there be new hardware?

The annual developers conference is typically focussed on software rather than hardware.

Apple, however, has occasionally used the event to introduce new Mac products and professional-grade computing devices.

This year's gathering is drawing additional attention as it is widely expected to be the final WWDC keynote led by Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook before a planned leadership transition later this year.

Developers attending the conference will also gain access to online technical sessions, interactive labs and discussions with Apple engineers throughout the week.

Apple has not officially disclosed the features that will be announced at WWDC 2026.
