US President Donald Trump said negotiations over the past day had been productive and suggested a deal could still be within reach.

“We’re in good shape,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. “Now we’re doing well, and we have to get what we have to get. If we don’t do that, we’ll have to go a big step further. But with that being said, they want to make a deal.”

“It’s very possible that we’ll make a deal,” he added.

When asked whether Tehran faced a timeline for accepting the proposal, Trump said, “Never a deadline; it’ll happen. It’ll happen, but never a deadline.”

The president also repeated his longstanding demand that Iran must not obtain a nuclear weapon.

“Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and they won’t, and they’ve agreed to that, among other things,” Trump said, though there has been no public confirmation from Tehran about any such agreement.

US media reports said the White House was seeking a one-page memorandum of understanding that would halt hostilities and establish a framework for negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.

The proposed arrangement reportedly includes a temporary Iranian moratorium on uranium enrichment, US sanctions relief and the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets, along with measures easing maritime restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.

CNN reported that the memorandum would formally declare an end to the war and begin a 30-day period for negotiations on nuclear issues, Iranian assets and maritime security in the strategic waterway.

The White House has not publicly confirmed details of the proposal under discussion.

In a post on Truth Social earlier Wednesday, Trump said the conflict could soon end and that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz could resume if Iran accepted the terms being discussed.

“Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran,” Trump wrote.

“If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before,” he added.
