The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was raised by ₹195.50 in Delhi and ₹218 in Kolkata with effect from April 1.

Following the revision, a 19-kg cylinder will cost ₹2,078.50 in the national capital.

This is the second consecutive monthly increase in commercial LPG rates.

Prices were last raised by ₹114.50 per cylinder on March 1.

The price of 5-kg free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders has been increased by ₹51 to ₹549 per refill.

However, there was no change in domestic LPG prices.

A 14.2-kg household cooking gas cylinder continues to cost ₹913 in Delhi. Domestic rates were last revised on March 7, when prices were increased by ₹60 per cylinder.

Meanwhile, jet fuel prices were more than doubled in the latest revision, hitting a record high.

ATF rates in Delhi were hiked by ₹1,10,703.08 per kilolitre, or 114.5%, to ₹2,07,341.22 per kl.

This is the first time prices have crossed the ₹2 lakh per kl mark. The previous peak was recorded in 2022, when rates had surged to about ₹1.1 lakh per kl following a spike in global oil prices after the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

This is also the second straight monthly increase in ATF prices. Rates had risen by 5.7% (₹5,244.75 per kl) on March 1.

The steep rise in jet fuel prices is expected to put further strain on airlines, which are already grappling with higher fuel consumption due to longer flight routes to western destinations amid airspace closures linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions. Fuel typically accounts for around 40% of an airline’s operating costs.

Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd revise LPG and ATF prices on the first day of every month based on international oil benchmarks and currency exchange rates.
