Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported its highest-ever sales in a financial year, 2024-25, driven by robust demand for both SUVs and multi-purpose vehicles.
Carmakers of India registered growth in sales for March 2025, backed by strong sales in two-wheelers, a rise in exports and SUVs taking over the buyer’s interest.
Maruti Suzuki registered marginal growth, while M&M sales shot up by 18%. Skoda India and TVS Motor Company registered their highest-ever sales in March.
Meanwhile, all the automakers recently have announced hikes in their prices ranging from 2% to 4%.
Total domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers were at 150,743 units compared to 152,718 units in the year-ago month, a dip of 1%, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.
For FY25, the MSI reported a total sale of 2,234,266 units against 2,135,323 units in FY24.
Maruti Suzuki India registered record total exports of 332,585 units last fiscal, a growth of 17.5% over FY24. The auto major had exported 283,067 units in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
For the fiscal 2024-25, the total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales were at 551,487 units, as against 459,877 units in 2023-24, a growth of 20%.
The company said its overall PV sales in March were at 50,835 units, including exports. The domestic sales for commercial vehicles stood at 23,951 units last month.
M&M’s total tractor sales, including exports, rose 34% year-on-year to 34,934 units in March. The company had sold 26,024 tractors in March 2024.
Domestic sales for March 2025 stood at 32,582 units as against 24,276 tractors sold in the same month of last year, registering a year-on-year growth of 34%.
Overall passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including electric vehicles, were up 3 per cent at 51,872 units compared to 50,297 units a year ago. Total commercial vehicle sales declined 3% year-on-year to 41,122 units in March.
For FY25, total sales declined 4% to 912,155 units against 949,015 units in the 2023-24 fiscal year. Passenger vehicle sales dipped 13% to 64,276 units last fiscal from 73,833 units in FY24.
HMIL reported total monthly March 2025 sales of 67,320 units that includes 51,820 units for the domestic market and 15,500 units for exports, with a growth of 2.6% over last year.
The growth was on the back of Audi India's efforts to capitalise on its diverse product portfolio and renewed supply chain stability, the company said in a statement.
Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles in the domestic market were at 16,082 units over 14,387 units in the year-ago month, a growth of 12%.
The company said it dispatched 337,148 units to dealers last fiscal year, a growth of 28% as compared with 263,512 units in FY24. In March, the company sold 30,043 units, a growth of 11%, as compared with 27,180 units in the same month last year.
Kia India said its dispatches to dealers in the domestic market rose 19% year-on-year to 25,525 units in March. The company dispatched 21,400 units to its dealers in March 2024.
Skoda Auto India, which is marking its 25 years of operation in India, said the sales registered in March were the highest-ever monthly sales by the brand in India.
The company's electric vehicles—Comet, ZS EV, and Windsor, accounted for over 85% of total sales. Windsor achieved the highest-ever monthly sales since its launch, it added.
Its domestic two-wheeler sales grew 14% to 297,622 units in March 2025 from 260,532 units in the year-ago month. The company’s electric vehicle sales also zoomed 77% in March to 26,935 units over 15,250 units in March 2024.
Three-wheeler sales were at 14,567 units in March against 10,146 units during the same month in 2024, a growth of 44%.
In the fiscal 2024-25, the company said it posted its highest-ever annual sales, crossing the 10 lakh units’ mark. The company's total sales in FY25 were at 10,09,900 units, as against 9,12,732 units in FY24, up 11%.
Exports grew by 36% at 12,971 units, as compared to 9,507 units in the year-ago month.
The company said it has registered 23,430 units in March this year, as per the VAHAN portal, reflecting strong demand across urban and rural markets.
The company informed us that it has nearly cleared the February backlog and expects to complete the remaining February–March registrations in April 2025.
The total sales for FY 2024-25 include record domestic sales of 10,45,662 units, a 14% rise from 9,21,009 units sold in FY24. The company also exported 2,10,499 two-wheelers in 2024-25 against 2,12,893 two-wheelers in 2023-24.
For March 2025, SMIPL said, the sales surged 21% year-on-year to 1,25,930 units from 1,03,669 units sold in March 2024, which was all-time high for any month.
