Inflation dents Dabur’s profit

In the December quarter, the FMCG major’s net profit rose marginally by 2.3% year-on-year to ₹503 crore. The management said that the operating environment remains challenging with unprecedented inflationary pressures and subdued consumer sentiment.

Despite this, the company reported an 8% rise in revenue to ₹2,941 crore. Its food and beverages business continued to report strong growth, increasing 38% in Q3FY22. Meanwhile, shares of Dabur were up 2% yesterday but the results were declared after the market hours.

Jubilant Food’s sales above pre-pandemic levels

The master franchise holder of Domino’s Pizza reported net profit of ₹137 crore, up 9.8% year-on-year. The rise in the bottom line was aided by a 13% increase in the revenue to ₹1,193 crore.

The growth in sales was due to recovery in in-dine channels as well as strong momentum of deliveries. Domino’s sales also rose above the pre-pandemic level. It opened 75 new Domino’s outlets - highest ever by any franchise in a quarter in any market. Meanwhile, shares of Jubilant Foodworks were down 4% yesterday.

Oil prices near 7-year high

The US crude oil prices reached near $90 mark as traders estimate that the OPEC members’ production will fall short of their own targets.

Despite the oil producing nations willing to increase supplies, the crude oil prices have continued their upward trajectory in 2022. The demand revival, geopolitical tensions and disruption in supplies have fuelled the prices.
