Reliance and Walt Disney signed a deal worth $8.5 billion to merge Star and Viacom18 in February
The Delhi software developer, the ‘dreamer’ who bought the domain name called JioHotstar.com anticipating that Reliance could soon carry out a merger for Disney+ Hotstar and name it JioHotstar, is now looking to take himself out of the mix because his parents are concerned.
In his earlier update, he mentioned that his request for the funding was denied by Reliance and the company is planning to take legal action. He added that he wouldn't be able to stand against Reliance and ended the message by saying that he hoped Reliance would help him and asked for help from legal professionals around the world.
In an update posted on JioHotstar.com on Friday, October 25, the developer opened his message with, 'Thank You People of Internet'. He noted that he received overwhelming support from lawyers—ranging from law professionals at High Courts and the Supreme Court of India to the ones working in Cambridge, London, California, Texas and Berlin.
The developer said that while he is aware that he can fight for the domain as it is his right, his parents are extremely worried for him.
Saying that he does not have the time or the resources to pursue a legal course of action against Reliance, he added that he would comply with a legal notice if he gets one.
Once again, he signed off his post with, ‘A Dreamer’.
