The campaign was launched at Panjab University, Chandigarh, on October 5, 2026, on the occasion of World Investor Week 2026, being observed in India from October 5 to 11.

Here are the 5 key initiatives and focus areas under the campaign:

1. ‘Samajh Se Investing Simple’ campaign

The campaign seeks to simplify investing through investor education and awareness. It encourages investors to understand different investment products, their risks and features, verify the authenticity of investment platforms and payment requests, and make informed investment decisions.

2. MUST initiative for students

SEBI has rolled out the MUST (Mentoring of University/College Students by Trainers) initiative to strengthen financial literacy and awareness about the securities market among students.

Under MUST, nominated faculty, staff or senior students will be trained and certified as Partner Trainers to impart financial literacy and securities-market awareness within university and college premises.

3. Official SEBI WhatsApp channel

SEBI has announced its official presence on WhatsApp to provide investor-awareness information and resources. The official SEBI WhatsApp Channel can be accessed through 1800 22 7575 and will carry a verified blue tick to help users identify the authentic account.

4. Multi-lingual, multi-channel investor education

Project Jagrook adopts a multi-linguistic and multi-channel approach to promote financial literacy, informed investment practices and prevention of financial fraud.

The campaign is being undertaken by SEBI in collaboration with Securities Market Partners including NISM, BSE, NSE, MCX, CDSL, NSDL and AMFI.

5. Investor awareness and fraud prevention

The campaign focuses on helping investors make informed and responsible investment decisions, understand investment products and their risks, verify investment platforms and payment requests, and strengthen awareness about financial frauds.

Chairman's message to investors
Separately, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey cautioned investors against anonymous tips, finfluencers and exaggerated claims about returns. He urged investors to invest only in products they understand.

According to findings cited from SEBI's investor survey, 63% of households were aware of at least one securities-market product, while only about 9.5% participated in the securities markets. The survey also showed that only 36% of investors had high or moderate knowledge of securities markets.

Pandey emphasised that investors need to understand before they act, while Project Jagrook seeks to make securities-market concepts simpler and more accessible.
