  1. Income Tax Return last date Live: What the IT Dept said on another due date extension

    The Income Tax Department has denied any further extension of the ITR filing last date, which is today, for non-audit cases. Earlier, a fake circular on social media claimed that the due date had been extended to September 30.

    Filing after today will result in late fees and penalties for taxpayers.

    The Income Tax Department has warned taxpayers of fake news about the extension of the due date for ITR filing for AY 2025-26 from September 15 to September 30.

    "A fake news is in circulation stating that the due of filing ITRs (originally due on 31.07.2025, and extended to 15.09.2025) has been further extended to 30.09.2025. The due date for filing ITRs remains 15.09.2025. Taxpayers are advised to rely only on official @IncomeTaxIndia updates," the IT Dept said in a post on X.
