After entering the OTP received on the mobile number, taxpayers can check whether the notice exists in the department’s records.
Taxpayers can also verify the notice by entering the Document Identification Number (DIN) mentioned on the communication along with their mobile number. After OTP verification, the portal will confirm the authenticity of the document.
No. As per the Income Tax Department FAQ, taxpayers do not need to log in to their e-filing account to authenticate a notice. The service can be accessed directly through the e-filing portal.
The OTP remains valid for 15 minutes.
Taxpayers get three attempts to enter the correct OTP.
If the OTP expires, a fresh OTP can be generated using the resend option.
