A flexi cap fund is a type of open-ended equity mutual fund scheme that invests in large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap companies with flexibility, which means it invests across all market caps without any fixed allocation. As per the regulations, a flexi cap fund must invest at least 65% of its assets in equity and equity-related instruments.

It’s basically a dynamic equity scheme that gives fund managers the freedom to invest in companies without any restrictions across market capitalisation. The fund manager invests depending on the market conditions and reallocates the portfolio accordingly to manage risk and offer higher returns.
