5 midcap funds deliver double-digit returns in 1 year. How have they performed over longer periods?

Nifty Midcap 150 index has surged nearly 17% over the last three months, rising from a low of 19,430 on March 30, 2026, to 22,710 on July 23, 2026. The buoyancy in midcap stocks is also reflected in the rising inflows of midcap mutual funds over the last few months.

While the category has witnessed bouts of volatility, several midcap schemes have delivered strong returns over the past year and generated significant wealth for long-term SIP investors. Data shows that as many as five midcap funds have delivered double-digit returns over the one-year period.

As investors continue to turn to midcap funds, this article takes a closer look at these five schemes, and examines how they have performed over longer periods across market cycles.

Baroda BNP Paribas Midcap Fund

The direct plan of this scheme has delivered 11.26% return in the one year ending July 22, 2026. Launched on January 2, 2013, the scheme delivered annualised returns of 20.06% over three years, 16.83% over five years and 19.17% since inception. In the near-term, the scheme delivered 4.2% return in three months, and 10.24% in six months.

Baroda BNP Paribas Midcap Fund ranks fifth in terms of one-year performance. A monthly SIP of ₹5000 in this scheme could have grown to a corpus of ₹4.67 lakh as of July 22, 2026.

With an AUM of ₹2513 crore, the midcap scheme held 68 stocks across 23 sectors as of June 30, 2026.

In June, the scheme added three stocks: Bank of Maharashtra, NLC India Ltd and Siemens Energy. It sold holdings in City Union Bank, Dalmia Bharat, Hero MotoCorp, Motheson Sumi Wiring and MRF. However, there was no change in the remaining 65 stocks in the Baroda BNP Paribas Midcap Fund's portfolio.

HSBC Midcap Fund

The direct plan of this scheme has delivered 17.40% return in the one year ending July 22, 2026. Launched on January 1, 2013, the scheme delivered annualised returns of 25.93% over three years, 19.43% over five years and 20.21% since inception. In the near-term, the scheme delivered 4.2% return in three months, and 10.24% in six months.

HSBC Midcap Fund ranks first in terms of one-year, three-year, and 5-year performance. A monthly SIP of ₹5000 in this scheme could have grown to a corpus of ₹5.16 lakh as of July 22, 2026.

With an AUM of ₹15,351 crore, the midcap scheme held 81 stocks across 22 sectors as of June 30, 2026.

In June, the scheme added four stocks: Acme Solar, AU Small Finance Bank Cochin Shipyard, Poly Medicure. There was no change in the remaining 77 stocks in the HSBC Midcap Fund's portfolio.

Helios Mid Cap Fund

The direct plan of this scheme has delivered 12.92% return in the one year ending July 22, 2026. Launched on March 13, 2025, the scheme has delivered 26.81% return since inception.

Helios Mid Cap Fund ranks three in terms of one-year performance. A monthly SIP of ₹5000 in this scheme could have grown to ₹66,175 in a year as of July 22, 2026.

With an AUM of ₹1793 crore, the midcap scheme held 68 stocks across 23 sectors as of June 30, 2026.

In June, the scheme added five stocks: Aditya Vision, Bharat Heavy Electricals, Billionbrains Garage Ventures (Groww), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and page Industries. It sold holdings in Escorts Kubota, Hero MotoCorp, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, Jain Resource Recycling and PB Fintech. However, there was no change in the remaining 65 stocks in the Helios Mid Cap Fund's portfolio.

ICICI Pru Midcap Fund

The direct plan of this scheme has delivered 11.21% return in the one year ending July 22, 2026. Launched on January 1, 2013, the scheme delivered annualised returns of 23.82% over three years, 18.37% over five years and 19.45% since inception. In the near-term, the scheme delivered 1.91% return in three months, and 12.12% in six months.

ICICI Pru Midcap Fund ranks four in terms of one-year performance. A monthly SIP of ₹5000 in this scheme could have grown to ₹4.89 lakh in 5 years ending July 22, 2026.

With an AUM of ₹7845 crore, the midcap scheme held 80 stocks across 25 sectors as of June 30, 2026.

In June, the scheme added no new stocks but sold Vedanta Oil and Gas Ltd.

WhiteOak Mid Cap Fund

The direct plan of this scheme has delivered 12.90% return in the one year ending July 22, 2026. Launched on September 7, 2022, the scheme delivered annualised returns of 24.05% over three years and 23.93% since inception. In the near-term, the scheme delivered 7.88% return in three months, and 12.74% in six months.

WhiteOak Mid Cap Fund ranks second in terms of one-year performance. A monthly SIP of ₹5000 in this scheme could have grown to ₹2.37 lakh in three years ending July 22, 2026.

With an AUM of ₹6171 crore, the midcap scheme held 125 stocks across 30 sectors as of June 30, 2026.

In June, the scheme added seven stocks: Aditya Birla Capital, Anthem Biosciences, DOMS Industries, JSW Infrastructure, Max Healthcare Institute, One97 Communications, Oracle Financial Services Software. It did not sell any stock in June.
