Diwali shopping 2025

The economics of Diwali, at a national level, are often overlooked by the middle class, as they remain busy in resetting their own houses and lives.

This year, consumer spending across the country has been boosted further by the major Goods and Services Tax (GST) overhaul introduced by the centre in September. The GST rate cut has provided a much-needed breather to the common man and has helped in driving Diwali sales this year.

However, while you engage in Diwali shopping, remember to be cautious of your spending and ensure that you take care of your credit limit.

Most no-cost and free offers have hidden charges, and discounts and offers can often lead to overspending and overconsumption. This can negatively impact your credit utilisation ratio. Moreover, festive overspending can result in mounting debt, and even fraud and data theft, so shop smart and be wise with your money.
