With revised ATM transaction charges now in force, the State Bank of India (SBI) debit card holders using other banks’ ATMs may see higher costs per transaction, especially after exhausting their free monthly limit.

The changes primarily impact savings, salary, and current account holders, while select categories such as Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts remain unaffected.

Who pays more?

SBI savings account holders now pay ₹23 + GST per cash withdrawal and ₹11 + GST for non-financial transactions at other bank ATMs after five free monthly transactions.

SBI aalary account holders, who earlier enjoyed unlimited free transactions, are now capped at 10 free transactions per month. Charges apply beyond this limit.

SBI current account holders continue to get no free transactions and will pay the revised higher rates for every transaction at non-SBI ATMs.

Who is exempt?

  • KCC account holders continue to enjoy unlimited free ATM transactions at other banks.

  • BSBD account holders see no change in existing rules.

  • Cardless cash withdrawals remain free across SBI and other bank ATMs.

How customers can avoid charges

SBI advises customers to rely more on its 63,000+ ATMs and ADWMs across India.

SBI has announced a revision in ATM and Automated Deposit cum Withdrawal Machine (ADWM) transaction service charges, effective December 1, 2025. The revision follows an upward change in the interchange fee structure and marks the second update to ATM charges in 2025, after the last revision on February 1.
